I'm an LPN but am often called a medtech

Published

I am a LPN and I work in an assisted living facility. Often times on the schedule the nurses are put on the floor as CNAs while the medtech passed medications. I feel this is wrong because even though LPNs can do patient care we hold higher credentials and therefore scheduling should follow a chain of command. What are the guidelines or input on this situation?

A nurse working as an aide is fine until something goes wrong with the patient and someone realizes a licensed nurse was caring for them. You are still responsible no matter what they tell you.

That's true

this is not a good place to be, legally speaking. you continue to be held to your highest license, no matter what. who do you report issues to ? is there a sup in house?

LPNs do none of that at my job. We chart on a few residents transcribe orders and supervise. That's it!!!

Where do you work lol?? I'm coming over there lol

Specializes in Neonatal.

Don't complain about getting LPN pay for CNA responsibilities. I would love to get paid my RN wage to do patient care

A title is just a title. As long as you pay me what my credentials, education, and experience call for, then you can ask me perform housekeeping duties only.

I'll sweep a floor for LVN/RN pay.

Ditto, I'm down for sweeping floors too as long as I get paid my LPN rate! I'll take out the garbage too.
