I'm so excited to start!

I am still in 4 classes this summer, but after orientation last week I just can't wait to start NS. My new school scrubs are washed and ready. I got my Danskos in the mail and have been wearing them to get used to them. The most exciting part is that I got my clinical assignment and I got exactly what I wanted for my first semester. I will be at the hospital that I eventually want to work at and in oncology, which is the dept. I want to work in! Now, I just need to order my stethoscope. Still trying to decide between the Master Classic or the Classic II SE.

It's getting closer everyone!

I think one of the ladies told me we won't have to have all of that done in august and that they'll give up a date to get it done by. I wish I knew. Maybe we won't start clinicals right away. I hate not knowing what's ahead of me-- I'm a planner and I have to have things in order!

Yea in my case we are starting clinicals right away...I'm going to a 2 year ADN hospital program...what school are going to?

Yay!

I just got my titers, TB test, physical, and tetorifice shot yesterday, so all I have to do is take CPR and shop and I'm ready! My summer classes are stealing all of my time, so all the exciting shopping I couldn't wait to do hasn't even be started. Boo. I need a new steth, scrubs, our uniform, shoes, school supplies, and the rest of my books!

Oh, and my arm feels like it's gong to fall off. When the MA asked what arm I wanted the Tetorifice shot in, I probably should've chosen my non-dominant arm.

Yeah, my arm hurt for 2 days. Plus, I got my first round of Hep B in the other arm. It actually hurt worse. :crying2:

I'm going to a two year ADN program as well! I am really unsure of the specifics. I wish I knew-- I can't take it! But I won't know until the 2nd.

What about the TB skin test, did it hurt? I'm scared of it!

That's really cool that you got to pick!! Congrats on that! And well, getting in, too!! Btw.. Love my danskos. I hope my program will allow them, if so I'll buy white ones. I have a classic II se. It's nice & bright orange.. But I'm trying to figure it out a little better.

Oh and yay for getting your clinical site! I got my first choice, too! Super exciting! Except I found out we're going to be put into a different hospital next year so we can experience different places. That means I'll have a year between being at my first choice hospital and actually applying there which seems too long for anyone to remember me!

On the other hand, if I'm a hot mess, it might be enough time for them to forget about me :)

"What about the TB skin test, did it hurt? I'm scared of it!"

Don't worry, the TB test doesn't hurt at all :)

I start my nursing program August 20th. Very excited. I started my pre reqs last summer, so I am happy I was able to complete the pre reqs so fast. I completed my background check and drug test and bought my uniform. I still need to buy shoes, sign up for CPR class, and buy school supplies. Congratulations to everyone and I wish you luck.

Stephalump,

Yeah, I was worried about being forgotten the 2nd year too. I will try to remember your "hot mess" comment. It might be good to be forgotten for my first semester.

No, the skin test doesn't hurt at all. It's just a funny lump in your arm for a little while.

I have been book shopping and have narrowed it down to $430. Not bad at all. I just need to start ordering them. I was told by some 2nd year students that I wouldn't need a couple of the required books. I'm going to trust them because I can just buy them later if I need to.

I just want to say good luck to everyone for nursing school and getting yourself ready for nursing school. I myself start in late august and can't believe its only around the corner. I get discouraged sometimes thinking how my life is going to change, if I'm good enough to make it through nursing school and if all the reasons I chose to pursue nursing are strong enough to keep me going. But I guess I should just take it one day at a time.Good luck everyone ;D
