I have heard many nurses say that they wanted to be nurse since they were a child. Not me! I am thirty five years old and will be graduating from nursing school in May. I started my adult life with a Bachelors Degree in Wildlife Biology and have worked the last 10 years as an Agricultural Equipment Salesman. So, why nursing? I felt like I was missing something in life and started doing volunteer work at a diabetic youth camp. From there I made the biggest decision of my life and have not turned back since. I am so excited about the potentail of my new career but I know the transition will be huge. Are there any other people reading this that have chosen to pursue nursing after a somewhat lengthly career in a totally unrelated feild? What kinds of adjustments did you face? Are you glad you made the switch, why? Any stories would be very helpful. Thanks!

I share your enthusiasm. I entered nursing "later" as well. NO regrets. Yes, bad days, gripey moments, but no regrets. WELCOME!

Hi
I think your excitement about your new career is what's so great - it'll be infectious to others - it's lovely to hear people who are so enthused about their job.
I can't claim to have made such a huge change - have been a nurse all my adult life and love it. I didn't want to be anurse growing up - I wanted to teach music, but I am so glad I chose this path!
Hope you get some responses to your thread.
