I m currently a lpn and taking my nursing courses with excelsior college but Im getting discouraged . Also I'm work in home care and seems like their too many nurses and not even clients. This road is a long one . I have a family with two small boys but can't get my head in the books. Im stuck at the chronicity exam but excelsior has so many fees . I will never complete.

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.

When there's a will, there's a way. You will find a way to complete the program if you want to accomplish your goals badly enough. Good luck to you!

Hi i had the same issues with kids and trying to balance the found a program near my home in miami Career learning center it is not for everyone an pricey But it kept me on track That was truely the only way i would have finished did prereques and nursing classes w them .

Good luck dont give up at least home health if flexible and you can arrange your schedule some what .

Its really hard to keep your motivation up in the RN program at excelsior. I recently graduated this march and got my license this June. IMO the tests are really hard but they prepare you well for the NCLEX. I work FT night shift 11p-7a in a nursing home. I also have 4 girls, the youngest just turned two. If I can do it, anyone can do it. I did the program in 3 years with the 1st year just doing the Pre-reqs which were only 2 courses. The 2nd yr was part time, and towards the end was close to fulltime. I learned the only way I was going to get it done was by paying for the classes. This way I knew I had to complete the courses within 6 mo or lose the fee. Good luck!

Thanks guys my head is back in the books and Im receiving a few pointers for passing my exams. Im using different study resources and Im retaining the material finally .

Keep up the hard work chick! YOU CAN DO IT! It will be hard and there will be times you will want to give up but find strength to keep going and know at the end ( which will come) that all of the hard work, dedication, sacrifices were worth it!! I came to this site many times to find motivation to open my books and study. Besides my family, these nurses here have inspired me to keep going when it got hard! Good luck!

hey i have question for u??? Im also going to CLC but im in tampa fl .. Im just working on my pre reqs... I just took my life span and totally bombed it .. The materiel on the final exam didn't seem to cover the same material.. im just very discouraged,,, How did u do it?? are u still in the program ..??/ i heard there's study guides online that help ?? if ya know any good ones please let me know and thanks

Hi I have the same issues also with work and family life and living pay check to pay check. Chronicity was hard for me, I scored low in the cultural section. just go through the exam content outline thoroughly. Make sure to cover each and every line and you will surely pass.

I think its good to realize that you wont find a traditional school under 10k. No traditional school is as flexible as online programs like Excelsior. You will eventually finish even if it takes you a few years. Don't be discouraged there are many people sho were like you. If they happened to run into your post I know they'd cheer you on and let you know they had the same thoughts. It will be worth it in the end!
