Thank you for allowing me to brag :chuckle
As far as how the exam was, I thought that the practice questions were harder than the actual exam!! It wasn't too bad at all... there were alot of psychosocial type questions which kinda took me by surprise. However, I do think it followed the blueprint for it exactly. Everything on there was questioned in one way or another.
As for as preparation for it, I watched Laura Gasparis Vonfrolio's videos primarily. They were extremely helpful and I highly recommend them!!! She is a great teacher as well as being funny and is able to break down the material to a simple to understand manner. I think I would have rather gotten the audio tapes which are a little cheaper because typically I'd be doing something while listening to her.. .like cleaning etc and I could have listened to the tapes while driving, working out, etc. But definitely, definitely get her tapes or videos or she also has DVD's now if you are preparing for the exam. Or if you are trying to just learn more about the ICU environment/patients, they are a help even then...
I had an AACN practice question book which had like three practice tests. I have to admit, I only did one practice test... oops. But those questions were in my opinion were harder than the actual exam...
I was surprisingly extremely calm about the whole thing. I thought I would have been a wreck like the boards, however, I definitely was not in the least bit nervous... I also think that helped alot. I was able to have a good game face...LOL I think perhaps the mayhem in my ICU helped me ..hehe.
Anyhow, that is my take on it... if you are considering taking it, I highly suggest you give it a try!!!
