I was totally addicted to this forum. Then..work/life became overwelming and for the first time ever I wanted to forget I was a nurse. I put all my journals aside, stopped logging on.
Things are getting better. How do I know? I'm back!! I sure missed you guys. And best of all, I'm happy again.
What I want to know..is how do you get out of a dark place in your life? Time and patience got me back, but I'd love to know about any short-cuts.
cheers!:)

I have found over the years - that when I am sad - that I have to pull back and reprioritize things in my life.

Welcome back, Tiiki! In my experience, (55 years worth), I have found that there aren't any short cuts through the dark places-- I have had to walk through them--but it is during those times that my faith becomes stronger. I have had your experience several times in my time as a nurse and twice left nursing jobs and found other things to do until I could see the 'light at the end of the tunnel.'
I recall your posts--I think I had just become a member when you left us--
Be happy, joyous and free, Tiiki--again, glad you're back.
Peace,
Lois Jean

Hi. I just joined probably since you've been back. Glad to hear you've "made it through the rain".
I don't have any advice. The dark times come and they go. Growing older, I realize that I've made it through many dark days and I will again. Fortunately, I've become stronger every time instead of bitter, old and depressed.

Welcome back. I just joined probably since you've been back also, like 3rdShiftGuy. My advice is to keep your faith..........It keeps me going thru it all.
also a little soft music, wine and a warm bubble bath helps too!

Hello, Tiiki! I've been a member awhile, but come and go, too. So glad that you came back!
I agree with LoisJean. When I get in that dark place (I call it the black pit), it's time to pull back and rediscover what is important to you in your life. Going on Sabbatical also helps me get some perspective on the chaos and drama of nursing. I have a new mantra: Work Shouldn't Hurt! You know the old joke: "doctor it hurts when I do this with my arm. The doctor says, well stop doing that, then. When work hurts, it's time to stop doing that.
I'll look forward to reading some of your posts! :):):)
Your support has been over-welming. Thank you. My grandmother used to say.."there is always someone worse off than you." Sometimes it's hard to remember that. I have found only nurses understand the feelings of other nurses. It's so nice to have a forum to vent. I'm gonna be OK!!
Cheers!
