2 months a go I accepted a pediatric case for a cute 3 years old boy. The case is very easy since he sleeps all night giving me the perfect chance to do teach and g- tube care. The problem is his mother thinks I'm a babysitter. She just moved to a new apartment with her 2 children my client and his sister 5. She decided that the girl will share the same room with her brother it's a very small room. The girl cries a lot and wakes him up all night ! Now she accepted a night job and she wanted to leave them with me!!! I told the agency before then she threatened them to change agencies . They never discuss it again . Tonight will be her first night going to this night job . What should I do or say . I need the job but not the babysitting part. Thanks

I have been in that situation. The agency doesn't care what is on paper. They will tell the families one thing in writing and do another. When this happened to me, I called the agency. They told me that if anything happens to the pt to the point I call 911, to let the police handle it then. You are putting yourself at risk by staying. The agency will only get away with what you allow them to get away with. You can also call CPS and the case manager. Let them know the mom threatened to change agencies because of it. That way they know she is manipulative as well. That statement will also make CPS and the case manager keep a close eye on things if they do change agencies.

Nope, bigtime liability issue. This is a legal issue and your employer should not hesitate remove you from the case. No one is being paid for you to keep the other kid safe, yet if you dont, who is ultimately responsible for her? Tell them you need them to fix the situation or find you another case. They dont have a leg to stand on with this.

So what happened?
