I'm an apple.

This is not in response to "can a fat nurse be a good nurse", but it did get me thinking. I am a true apple shape: thick in the middle, thin arms and legs. I still want to look professional in my scrubs but don't know what is the best style..should I wear a lab coat or not, shirt in or out, style of pants, etc. Maybe some of you were a stylist in a former life and could offer some recommendations about styles, particular brands, or suggestions other than a tummy tuck. (I am working on the diet part but that doesn't help me for right now :o.)

Personally I have found the Grey's Anatomy scrubs to be the most flattering on me. The colors don't fade in the wash so I feel like I always look professional. I just ordered my nursing school scrubs and bought this brand. I carry the majority of my weight around my middle and all of the other tops I tried made me look like I was wearing a tent.

I've found them the cheapest here: http://www.pulseuniform.com/

You can usually find a discount code if you google!

Good luck in your search!

Those are really cute! Thanks a bunch.

I usually wear Lydia's scrubs in solid colors. I get drawstring (no elastic) waist pants and tops with front pockets at the bottom. My lab coat and warm-up jackets all have 'princess' seams in back, which makes them a little more flattering than unisex/boxy styles. Between the pockets and the jacket (usually worn unbuttoned) the eyes are drawn away from the waist.

My suggestion would be to buy high quality scrubs and have the tailored to fit properly. Cheap looks cheap, and ill fitting looks bad no matter what they cost.

I'm an apple and I plan on having my school uniforms tailored. Especially, the long blazer like lab coat. A blazer that fits well with a fitted (not oversize top) underneath always helps to balance me and take the focus off the tummy. Also without tailoring, pants would sag in the rear, & thighs on me because my waist is bigger.

What brands would you suggest?..i know popular does not always mean high quality.
