  1. Ok guys, summer is almost over already! Are you guys still interested in meeting up before school starts? I'll be in Seattle a lot more now that my classes are over.
  2. Personally I have found the Grey's Anatomy scrubs to be the most flattering on me. The colors don't fade in the wash so I feel like I always look professional. I just ordered my nursing school scrubs and bought this brand. I carry the majority of my weight around my middle and all of the other tops I tried made me look like I was wearing a tent. I've found them the cheapest here: http://www.pulseuniform.com/ You can usually find a discount code if you google! Good luck in your search!
  3. I actually just ordered my uniform this morning. We just have to match the color (a deep purple) but are free to purchase any brand of scrubs. I went with Grey's Anatomy in purple rain because the name is awesome and because they are the softest scrubs I have found. We also get a short white lab coat and sew the school patch on one shoulder. I am so thankful I don't have to wear all white!
  4. Thanks Kristin, I will do the same! I realized last night that we have been "waiting" in some form or another since the January application deadline. It is no wonder I'm so anxious about everything! Kristina
  5. I will be starting a BSN program this fall (but not until September!) and I swear I wake up everyday more and more terrified. I am leaving a well paying job with amazing benefits to do this and emptying out my 401k and taking out more student loans to pay for everything (I am a second degree student). On the other hand, I am very excited to be moving to a bigger city, to be attending a very well known nursing program, and to meet my classmates and professors. I've always wanted to "move away" for school and I'm finally doing it at 29 years old. You are not alone!
  6. Has anyone heard from UWMC? I'm assuming I didn't get selected at this point but it would be nice to know for sure.
  7. I too will be starting a BSN program this fall, but we don't start until the end of September! (I'm attending a University in Seattle) I didn't have to take any entrance tests, but the application was intense. Here's hoping the next 2.5 months fly by!
  8. I too am still waiting to hear about the loan program! Thank goodness my classes are keeping me busy. I'll post as soon as I hear anything...either way. P.S. My roommate started summer classes and feels that she WILL get a solid nursing education from UW and her instructor is a practicing nurse who is very approachable and knowledgable. I'm sorry to hear that other people did not have good experiences at the school, but I'm determined to start the program with a positive attitude. ~Kristina
  9. Have fun at orientation, all you summer-starters! I'd love to hear how it went!
  10. @earthtokendra- Thanks for the advice, I will definitely check those neighborhoods out! I am still hoping that I will find a couple other students in the program who want to rent a house together to cut down costs. @CulleK- I am also applying for the loan program. I wish I knew how many people they picked each year...I'm guessing it's not many. Being selected for this would really help me out so I'm going to spend a lot of time on my essay. Would any of you be interested in meeting up before the program starts (maybe in August?) for dinner? I think that would be a lot of fun.
  11. Does that mean you chose UW over Seattle U? Or are you still deciding? Has anyone gotten acceptance letters from the university yet? Also-I'm planning a trip to Seattle soon to check out apartments and to visit the school again. Any local people have suggestions of good neighborhoods I should start in? I don't really know Seattle at all.
  12. I am still trying to figure out if I can afford to attend the BSN program I was admitted to which starts in September. In the meantime, I have a couple prereqs to finish up (micro now, pre-calc and ONLINE organic chem over the summer, God help me!) I am also trying to get a second job on weekends as a CNA to save up more money before I move for school. Any free time I have is being used to apply for scholarships and trying to get into shape. I am incredibly jealous of you guys who get to take vacations before starting...drink a margarita for me!
  13. Did anyone else notice that we were given two different dates to reply by? My letter says that I have to return the form by April 20th or I will be removed from the accepted students list, but the actual purple form we are supposed to return says May 15th.
  14. Aww Rachel, I am sorry to hear that! Looks like you have some great alternatives though, I wish you the best of luck!
  15. CulleK, Thanks for your post! I've talked to a few other people about my situation and they've all said something similar to what you said- getting accepted is an incredible opportunity and I should not be so quick to dismiss the idea of going. I've found a few small scholarships I am going to apply for as well as the loan with UWMC. I'm going to be starting a second job as a CNA on weekends and holidays. I also have a friend who says I can live with her and her husband for the two months after the current lease on my apartment expires. This will help me save up money to move to Seattle. If I can find a couple of roommates and a cheap place around UW that will help too. So for now I'm going to accept the offer, and hope for the best! We haven't heard from a few other people on this thread after letters went out- Rachel, Cynders, Angelina, katej326, I'd love to hear back from you guys, hope you received good news!
