I'm afraid I may not pass my first semester

I am afraid I may not pass my first semester of LPN school because I am failing pharmacology and I cried during my foley checkoff. I am a relatively good student, but lately I am overly emotional and I haven't been concentrating as much as I was when school first started. I am almost to the point where I want to give up. I was so excited to be accepted into this program and how being in nursing would impact my life and my family life. But now, I am chickening out. I would like some encouragement or advice on how to stay focused when you are so overwhelmed and afraid of failing checkoffs.

ah I am with you on this one. Every subject I am doing awesome in, clinicals are not a problem but pharm I am failing horribly. My ave is like a 60 right now, so hard to get up. I hate to come this far and then fail because I am not a math expert. Just keep your head up and keep studying! Don't get distracted by this website eithor! ha study instead of surfing the web, it gets me everytime!

first off- take a step back and relax. I know check offs may seem like a big to do right now, but really they arent. Try to become comfortable with your instructors, if thats who is doing pass offs, so when it comes time to actually go up and show your skills, you arent so nervous. That takes off alot of stress- come out and say your a little nervous.

As for the pharm, ask an instructor if you could stay after and get soem extra help. When it comes down to that, it is all about formulas- once you get the formula down, you just plug in the info. If you have any questions- send me a PM with what your having trouble on. Id hate to see you fail out cuz of that!!!

hey!! i just want to say just relax and take your time during check-offs. usually when i do my check-offs i pretend the teacher is not there and just talk to the manequin as if it were a real patient. this really helps me out. as for the math part.... all i can say is study study study!!!!!

there are many times when i cry or just want to give it up but i know this is really what i want to do. it will be over soon.....just keep the faith!!!!

we will be nurses in no time!!!!!:nurse:

Like everyone else says.. just relax! Trust me, this seems so hard right now but when you are further in the program you will be asking yourself "why was I so worried about that"!!! You DO need to study hard, It helped me to do many problems in a workbook for practice. But do try to relax because anxiety can ge the best of you. Good luck!!
