Hi,
Are there any nursing students from Truman on here? Past or present. I have some questions that I can't seem to find the answer to on their website.
1. Is the admission still "lottery system" based? How would that exactly work? I saw on their website that they award points on GPA (ex: "4 X 4 = 16 pts for an A in A&P"). If it's a lottery, how come they look at GPA?
2. What GPA did you have when you got in? Are you a current or past student?
3. If it's GPA based, I think I'll have more luck getting in like that than the lottery. One last thing I wanted to ask, would any of you Truman students, past or present, be willing to sell or let me borrow your notes from Truman's Nursing School? I know you might think I'm trying to find an easy way out or cheat or something. What I really want to do, since I have the summer off, is to study ahead. I have done this in the past with Anatomy and Physiology and it has helped me tons. That's just how I learn. When I have free time, I just like to look at things from a non rushed way. Once school starts, I'll have 17 credit hours of classes and plus work. I will also be studying ahead for Microbiology and A&P this summer so I can really have a lot of time to digest the material.
*Please if you know anyone that would let me use their notes, contact me and I'll work someting out with them.
Thanks
FINALLY got my letter.
' applicants will be accepted to the day or evening cohorts on a first come, first served basis. Once all seats are reserved in either cohort, students will be assigned to the remaining seats in the other cohort'
I'm calling and no one is answering. This letter was mailed to everyone April 9th mine was mailed april 19th. So I really do not know what to do since I am turning it in so late and I want day class. It is not fair but I do not want to demand anything. I'm not sure what is going to happen and if they will take fault for this.
kmuellfa-- I was also not rewarded for the information session.
You can look at the schedule online for Nursing 101 Im not sure when classes are next semester, it was 8-950 mon and wednesday for me. The two books I suggested are not required and not in the packet. They are supplementary books that everyone has but need to be purchased from Amazon.com or elsewhere. If you have financial aid you have to go to the financial aid office Im not sure about that, I have to pay for my classes on my credit card so I had to pay the same day. In regards to orientation, I arrived at about 8 I think and was the first person there. I think if you get there an hour or so early you will be fine, just sit outside the room and read a book or something, well worth the wait.
Ok, this must be a mistake and I'm wondering if anyone else got this letter. Around the 19th I got the letter saying I was accepted to Truman YAY!!! I brought back the form saying I would attend and which schedule I wanted the next day. Then today I received a letter saying that "one or more of the pre-requisites were missing from my file" and I should complete the pre-req's and reapply next year! *****?? I took my science classes here at Truman, and in regards to my math, I took two higher level math courses than they require (college algebra and statistics) out of state several years ago, but I was told repeatedly that the five year rule only applied to science, not math or english. I guess their office is closed, but you can bet I'll be in there tomorrow morning!
Anybody else get a letter like this? I'm freaking out!!!
I got the same letter from Truman and I completed every pre-requisites from their school as well and just need to take Bio 227 and Micro 233. I called them just this afternoon and I guess the Dean of Instruction wasn't there. But when I was talking to the lady (didn't get her name) she said that there might be an error. Now that I know that I am not alone then I am pretty sure that they might have made a mistake. I have been accepted as well (or so I thought I was until this letter came) for the Fall 2010 and I hope that we can get a clear answer tomorrow when we visit the office.
I just got home and I got the same letter!!!!!!!!!what the heck is going on! how can they be playing with people like that! I live in the South Side and is very inconvenient for me to be going all the way over there just for their careless mistakes! and most of all feeling uncertain of your reserved spot! but I will be there tomorrow, first thing in the morning! or should I just call?
Well if you read my earlier post, you see what they put me through. My letter came today and in bold it told me to make sure that I complete Math 118 this summer as agreed and to bring them my records when I complete the course.
I took math 118 in summer 2009 and got an A.
I don't know what the hell is going on over there.
That's odd. This is frustrating they are pretty unorganized this year.
Did you two finish all the pre reqs? Bio,english, chemistry, micro?
Maybe call first and if no answer then go in. I know they don't like giving information over the phone
I have done all the pre reqs and co reqs (BIO 121, 226, 227, CHEM 100/121, and MICRO 233 all at Truman; plus English I and II and two math courses out of state). I'll be there for classes tomorrow anyways so I'll stop in later in the day. Hopefully things will be cleared up by then. It's good to hear that it's not just me though!

annabanana, I just called the Nursing Dept. and the lady that answered the phone (did not get her name) said that it was probably "a double march" and I asked her what a march was and she said it was probably a mistake. She asked me for my last name and was checking in the computer and she stated that I was in the acceptance list. She told me again that it was probably a mistake (she was very nice). I think is a good idea if you could go after class and see what they tell you, maybe they give you more info. I am just afraid that in a week or so, they come up with something else!
