If You Dont Pass a Class, Your Out?

Published

I am taking my pre reqs now but read a post that mentioned because the poster received a D in the class he/she will have to apply to a different nursing school. Is that how it is at every school? You cant just retake the particular class at the current school?

That sounds in line with my school. There are 700 people waiting that have NOT been accepted do to the limited number of seats and the overwhelming number of applicants. You have to think of the number of applicants that don't have any D's on their record. The best you can do is try to do well in everythign else, and hope that their will be a way to get in.

we started off with 66 students and have 5 left.

That is ridiculous! Don't take this the wrong way, but I don't see that as raising the bar... I feel like either they didn't screen students well enough in the beginning, they aren't teaching the material well, or the exams are too impossible, or something along those lines. That can't be productive to end up with 5/66.

Our rules on failing are sort of convoluted... usually we have to have a 74 in a class for the final exam and final grade to pass. You aren't kicked out if you fail to do this, but most classes are prereqs for the next and many are offered only ONCE a year - so you are essentially a year behind if you fail a class. I think you are on probation if you fail one and kicked out if you fail two. I'm not sure if you can reapply.
