If you could post your own...

This article caught my eye.http://www.ctv.ca/CTVNews/World/20120613/japan-budget-carrier-skymark-airlines-120613/ This airline posted a list that stated ''flight attendants aren't obligated to be polite or cater to the whims of those on-board'' they are there to provide safety. Can you imagine if nurses posted something like this?!?!

It got me thinking, if you could post a list what would be on it.

Mine would include:

-Staff reserve the right to discontinue call bell service at any time at the discretion of the nurse.

If you're going to refuse everything we're trying to do, don't bother coming to the hospital in the first place.

Exactly! Or..."feel free to leave AMA. I will help you pack. Just sign this here paper. Kthxbye."

Sidenote: Wooh, I've missed ya, I

Mine would simply be a blog about what the "business" approach to healthcare is doing to the field as a whole.

Administrators of healthcare facilities have worked long and hard to throw nurses under the bus when the healthcare system fails. They advertise and preach "care", but I'm a firm believer in "A handful of what you do outweighs a truck load of what you say." The actions of the suits does not convey any concern for patient safety or satisfaction.

If the general public was less concerned about getting into petty tiffs with the care givers: "I hate nurses who wear different color scrubs".........."Why is my nurse so fat?".............."My nurse is always at the computer"..................and more concerned with making the suits accountable............lots of problems with healthcare would go away.

Now, that would make for an interesting study. "Is caffeine absorbed better/quicker through the GI or through the alveoli?"

LOL....indeed! While the explanation of "he never wakes up in the morning until he's had a cup of coffee" might be acceptable to her, it sure as heck wasn't to ME.

Daisy, how about: nurses are not obligated to find your visitors a pillow.

(Pillows are hard enough to come by for the patients who need propping up all over!)

Nurses are not obligated to listen to you sing your lyrics as to why you need to leave soon.

Nurses are not obligated to provide your family members with monthly sanitary supplies.

I tell my patients (due to severe pillow shortage in ED) point blank, our rule is that if you are under 30 you do not need a pillow. I will walk all over the hospital to find one if necessary, but it has to be REALLY necessary...

I have to say this in all sincerity. It is pretty simple.

If you abuse, spit, attack, hit, maul, harrass or insult any of the people that are trying to care for you, or your loved ones in the absence of reasonable pathology or genuine mental health issues, you will be escorted from the premises by security.

We are in the business of health promotion and care, ANY obstruction to this care (even family + friends) will be shut down or removed in any manner that is deemed appropriate. Zero tolerance.

I was fussed at by management by offering someone who was screaming and cursing and threatening to go home AMA a box for their things. Lol, I'm not going to beg you to stay!
