If I hear Flu one more time..

Hello All!

Just a rant..because I know yall will understand :)

We have just had the year that keeps on giving....flu has been rampant and we are still seeing more confirmed. Eh, 17 days...

Our flu epidemic seems to have passed and now we're having a bunch of spring pneumonia cases. 26 days!

The problem of a long season is those vaccinated before November are effectively unvaccinated, and even those are questionable.

I read the title and thought it was going to go different.

One of the PTO parents came to talk to me about the "Flu" that's going through the kindergarten class. It's a GI bug (I'm pretty sure it's not Noro again)

And the teachers write "influenza" when they take off for GI symptoms

And even my principal talked to me about how she couldn't believe she got "the flu" twice this year even though she got her flu shot. Both times GI.

:banghead: :banghead:

Eek! I think I may take the flu..

Sometimes it's not worth the breath to try to correct it..Well, if you are anything like me...I dunno what I'm talking about...until there's blood or vomit involved....LOL

Oh I know it's not worth the effort to teach them the difference.

We track all influenza cases in my district, so if a teacher puts "influenza" as their reason for being absent, I need to track them down to see if they actually got swabbed. Our office person who handles attendance always asks for symptoms when a child is sick, so that way if a parent says "flu" we at least have a tiny picture of what it actually might be.
