i found out that i failed today, and i was a good student in college, i took the kaplan review and studied. but... computer kicked me out on 75. let me tell you, the half of the questions were meds, so focus on memorizing as much meds as possible. the other half was, prioritizing, med-surg and infection control. it asks alot of precaution questions. one thing that screwed me over big time was that the comp asked me a question that i had no idea of, after i got it wrong it shoot me with 8 same subject questions in a row. so study on your weak spots. there was no dosing, but it gave me 3 I/O calculation questions. it didnt give me any maternity or peds. maybe one psych like how the nurse's responce should be. and most of all, DONT PANIC. cos that makes you forget even the simplest things like how many ml is one oz :)
consantrate on meds and your weak spots and you ll be fine :)
good luck
Good luck on your NCLEX in September. I am waiting for my test date, or the school to send my transcripts to the BON. I have Kaplan online and it makes me feel stupid!!! I have all the others too. No one person can tell you what's going to be on the test only because there are so many questions ins the bank that you may get more of one topic than another person. I am hoping that my education will get me somewhere and studying hard out of these books that I could make a library out of. I got an 848 on my HESI. I felt the HESI tests were at least a bit more difficult than the book tests and offered a better rationale than did the books I have. I may be taking my test the same time you do! Good luck.
I have completed the question trainer averaging 63-65% I have one more to go.
I actually felt horrible at first with kaplan. But, I don't feel so much pressure now, as far as I can see, looks like most people who score 60% and above pass the NCLEX. I also faithfully listen to the review of content and questions.
8 more days until NCLEX.
Kaplan was horrible. I heard rave reviews about Kaplan but when I started doing the questions online I thought to myself, something is not right with these questions. I didn't have a problem if I was getting them wrong but the logic they used and priority on some of the questions were going agains anything I knew so I stopped using it. I took my NCLEX last Tuesday and PASSED with 136 questions. I liked the Saunders Strategies for Success. This book I feel is a must have. The strategies are good. I also found that the NCSBN.org website, that review was good. I didn't read all of the study stuff but I did a lot of the questions and it helped.
Update- I passed with 75 Questions.
Kaplan did help me- ALOT.
The NCLEX is similar to Kaplan b/c Kaplan's questions are Higher level.
Priority and Delegation book was a Tremendous help.
Kaplan gives you confidence to go with your gut!
I had 7 meds, 5 of which never heard of, 1 math and tons of P and D questions.
My philosphy is the first 30 + questions are not that difficult, it figures your LEVEL, then shoots into overdrive where you are getting 50% right and 50% wrong.
My advice Take your time- don't rush through, breathe!!!!!!
yes, you will feel like a failure after the test.
www.allnurses.com helps so much with the waiting period.
Pray that the Heavenly Father allows you and guides you to the right answer and eliminates those distractors.
I wish you all the best-

I am studying for the NCLEX, Our school required a 80% pass rate, ok, so I made it now it's time to take the NCLEX.
I have completed 2000 questions so far using Meds Pub, Evolve, Hesi , review with the Judith Miller CD's
and currently using Saunders Q an A contains 3500 questions.
Plan to complete about 6000 questions before I sit for the NCLEX, by the way I got a 721 on the Hesi Exit Exam which is not passing ( I never passed any HESI exam is school but, I did get better throughout) so I will take it again on Friday 8/3/07. I feel like I don't have good test taking skills and don't seem to take it all in sometimes.
I also am scoring an adverage of 55-70% on all these tests.
So finally my question to you is, why do people fail is, it because, they did not prepare, did you do practice questions, did you review weak areas- I am soooo scared and feel very anxious about preparing well and failing.
I also have been studying for the NCLEX everyday as of June 20,2007.
How many questions did you do before you sat for NCLEX?
