If you're denied a spot

Do they tell you why you wouldn't have gotten in? Do they give you advice on how to up your chances?

I don't remember if my rejection letter last year had a reason on it. But I would certainly ask your advisor if they can answer that question. Do you have an advisor who is a nursing instructor? I think we got nursing instructor advisors as pre-nursing students, although I have a different advisor now that I am a nursing student.

I've been e-mailing back and forth with this advisor for West Texas A&M, gosh she is SO sweet and encouraging. She says right now she doesn't see why I wouldn't get accepted. I still have a bulk of my pre reqs to fill, but the ones I have completed I've gotten 3.0's. It's really great to hear her be so uplifting to me, it gives me SO much confidence to rock these last classes I have to do. Most other advisors I have spoken with were so negative to me.

Assuming you hit all the prereqs and applied and stil did not get in, then I would hope the school would inform you why you did not get In

This year my school accepted students to the program based on three tiers. Those who had first shot had completed pre reqs. Second to be considered were finishing up their pre reqs in the first summer session, and third (although I don't know how many slots would possibly be remaining by then) were those who would finish their pre reqs in second summer session. Good luck to you, and don't give up if you don't get in this time, just keep plugging away at the pre reqs, and once those are done, start on co reqs! That's what I did to get in. Took me three years. Persistence!

When I was rejected in the past, I was never given a reason. I figured it was because I had applied at a community college and since there are like 300+ people applying between two campuses (It's pretty intense at our local community college!), the applicant pool was competitive, just as their generic rejection letter stated. Looking back on the rejection, I thank them because it kicked my butt into gear to take the classes I needed to transfer because I was accepted and begin a BSN program this month. :-)

I'd say that rejection was the best I ever could have received.
