Thank you

You could transfer to Alberta once you've registered in Quebec, but like I already explained, you'll have to be assessed by the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) and meet all their requirements before you'll be permitted to apply for a practice permit. It will probably be a lengthy process because CARNA does nothing in a hurry. How soon do you plan to get married? There are many threads here that talk about CARNA. You might want to look at them.

NO. You don't need to pass the OIIQ exam and OLF exam to get a PR status. In fact you can get a PR status through QSW even before you apply for OIIQ registration. I'm undergoing that process as of the moment. Read Immigration Quebec's website. All the information there are easy to understand and are designed to help foreign skilled workers, students, businessmen and investors who are interested into moving to Quebec.

@yoopian

greetings from Philippines, I've been following this thread for quite some times.. keeping my silence ...for almost all of my queries have been asked... so i really find it helpful... however I'm really meaning to ask you.. about your personal view of QSW if I'm not mistaken your are under this program....

which is better having the QSW... in my country of origin before going to canada...

or apply for it once you're in canada?...

got really messed up with this... since at the moment I am waiting for my final verdict from OIIQ ... however i got an offer to change program to QSW... I've read a lot of messages ... it breaks and unbreaks my heart...:crying2:

I guess i've done my fair share in informing my self about the different things going on... on my own I've weighted the advantages and disadvantages.... nevertheless i just want to know your point of view...

i hope I'm not asking to much... your reply is truly appreciated...merci...

@charmzele

There are a few pros and cons if you're still trying to choose to apply or not but I think it is better to apply now as a QSW while you are in the Philippines.

Hi Miasat,

I've been reading this thread for quiet a while now and I guess you are the right person who can answer some of my questions. I'm a Filipino nurse by the way working in Mauritius as Nurse Educator. I'm planning to apply for a resident visa for Quebec because the agent told me that it would be the easiest way but I have some apprehension though. Mauritius is a French speaking country but still I couldn't speak the language. My concerns are actually the following and I hope you will bear with this:

1. Can I land a job there even if i don't have the registration yet? (not necessarily as a nurse)

2. Can I just apply for resident visa without going through an agent?

3. Is there a Filipino community there who can help in case?

Thank you so much.

You many find for Quebec that French is a requirement of the process for PR

@silverdragon102:

sorry, what do you mean by PR? Somebody mentioned it in the thread but I couldn't remember what it means.

You mean before i will be granted the PR visa I need to speak French? The agent told me its not a requirement. All they want at least you have the desire to learn their language.

PR= permanent resident

Thank. Is there other place in Canada where can I apply other than Quebec? I mean like English speaking province.

PR is permanent residency and check this link out because that will determine if you meet Quebec requirements. Do not always believe what an agent will tell you

You can apply for residency in any province as long as you meet requirements and if necessary obtain a job. Obtaining a job may be the biggest hurdle however for PR in other provinces applying for FSW1 will require you to wait for the cap to reopen. Regardless you will need a pass in either English or French
