IEN(RN) eligible to be registered as a LPN in Canada?

Hi,

I am a Registered Nurse from the Philippines. I just would like to ask what are the chances of getting eligibility to take CPNRE once assessed by the College. I applied for assessment as a RN in Canada but unfortunately, they are requiring me to take CCA because my education did not meet their requirements though I graduated BSN here in my country. If I apply for registration as a LPN, do you think my credentials as a BSN graduated can be useful and become eligible to take the said exam?

The only ones that can make that decision is the provincial college of LPN's Yes you may meet requirements but they are the only ones that can give a definitive answer

I've heard that happening for some wishing to go to Canada to practice as a RN. What is it that the board is stating that you're missing? Good Luck

Silverdragon is right only the College of LPN's in the province you want to work in can make that decision but it is highly probable that if you have a degree from the Philippines then your application for license as an LPN will be accepted.

It would seem that, from the way the registration information is written on their website, the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba will accept applications from IENs (RN) if their educational program is considered equivalent to that of student practical nurses in Manitoba. Please read this: http://www.clpnm.ca/content/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=20&Itemid=26&Itemid=26. You will, of course, have to meet all the other requirements and pass the CPNRE.

I hope this thread is still alive.

I'm a Registered nurse in the philippines, 2 years experience as nurse in Riyadh(no license), i finished a 6 month caregiving program in the philippines, I have 1 year critical care nursing diploma from niagara college, and IELTS of 7

Questions, will I be eligible to seat for the RPN exam in Ontario? I'm hesitant to register as Nurse yet because of other testimonials.

Please enlighten me... Still on PGWP

Only real answer will come from the college but starting point would be NNAS and the application to the provincial college of RN/LPN

Thank you silverdragon! But basing on your readings and info through others experiences, you think i have a chance?

I think you have a chance but I think the biggest issue will be finding a employer as LPN/RPN isn't in short supply
