Hi
I went for myID before getting my orders. I wasn't even in DEERS yet............ It wasnt a good day.............. the soldier took about 2 hours trying to get the computer to print my ID, after he spent a bit inputting all my info. The computer kept trying to print the old style ID card (green).
Also, when I was getting my initial ID made........... someone went and inputted my ako email with a #2 after my name. I tried to register my CAC and it wouldnt work. Ended up getting another ID, with the correction
Thanks for the reply, What documentation did you have when you went?

took my Driver's License and my passport.
I went to Naval Station San Diego last Friday to try and get an ID and the 1st thing they checked was to see if deers was updated! It was not updated and I was told I would have to come back when it was. Any thoughts, anyone?

When I went, my DEERS was not uopdated. the Soldier did a lot of it himself. Can you get on AKO? Perhaps you can access or get the POC contact for DEERS, in your region, and see how to go about getting your info updated

My recruiter said something about not getting an ID til I got down to Ft Sam for July OBC...or at the earliest he said maybe a few days before. But if you got yours early aRNmy, then I should be able to as well I would think...I want to get everything all set so I won't be stressed when I get down there. How did you go about getting yours?
Hi GoGreen
I went to Westover AFB first and got my initial ID there, but they had gotten my email wrong and I could not use it to log on using my CAC reader. So I then went to Devens and got it replaced. You need to bring a couple of ID's and some patience as it takes a while.
Good Luck!

GoGreen and LZRN...
I would get your ID ASAP. This allows you access to military installations, the PX, military discounts ect. It will also help because you need to get your uniforms before you go to OBC.
Here is the link to RAPIDS, just enter your geographic location and it will search the ID office nearest you. Give them a call and make sure you are in the system before you go, they will tell you what you need to bring.
Good luck!

Thanks so much for the info!!
Just an FYI:
I just called the ID card office. Apparently, I will have to wait to get to Fort Sam in order to get my ID. You must be Active Duty status in order to get one, and since I am considered IRR right now until I go down there, I can't get one.

That ID card office lied to you. I'm on IRR(just commissioned last month) until I get to FT Sam and I got my ID card 2 weeks ago. I would call back and talk to someone else. I would not show up to OBC without an ID card though. Maybe get to Ft Sam early and get it there before the official report date.
