I have been a trauma/icu/burn RN for 10 years and we are trying to relocate back south to be closer to our families. The areas we are looking at is pretty wide spread from Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Northern Florida.

Does anyone in these area's know of any hospitals that are offering sign-on bonus's and/or relocation assistance? If you do, we would really appreciate the info. If you are employed there as well and they have a referral program, I would be happy to give you our info so it helps you as well.

I would really like to stay within the critical care/icu areas. Thank you so much for any input you have!

Specializes in dialysis (mostly) some L&D, Rehab/LTC.

I remember seeing ads in my RN newsletter for RN's around the Katrina area for $12,000 sign on bonus.

Do you happen to remember wich hospitals in the Katrina area? I am having trouble finding many with any kind, but I know there's a lot that I have not discovered yet. The Katrina area would be fantastic!

Remember, sometimes hospitals with big sign on bonuses have a reason for doing so---they may be awful.

However, perhaps hospitals will pay a bonus for seasoned ICU nurses like yourself. Just be careful when money is being waved in your face.

Good luck,

I sure appreciate the info and thought. We have thought the same thing, but the logic that we are using is that we are trying to get close to family and if that means we sign a two year contract for say a 10k sign-on, ok. That will then give us two years of scouting the area and will also give me enough time to finish my masters, to find a job that would really satisfy us.

We can almost endure any type of working conditions for two years if you keep a positive attitude and know that you are working towards an achievable goal. Most of us on this board have gone to school for at least 4 years to get this far, and by know means was that a walk in the park everyday.

Again Oldiebutgoodie, your feedback is appreciated.
