Tilda Shalof, a Toronto ICU nurse, has been collecting medicine caps and lids, IV tubes and syringe covers for nearly 30 years. She finally figured out what to do with them. She decided to turn them into a massive mural, creating a colorful mosaic of more than 10,000 pieces embedded in clear resin.
To her, the plastic pieces are not garbage. Shalof, a nurse with nearly three decades of experience, sees a beauty in the refuse — beyond the vibrant colors and pretty shapes — that remind her of lives lost and saved.

I used to collect the barrels that 50cc piston syringes used to come in. Took them home to make into Christmas things by my kid sister & her friends. Like with cotton balls made into candle 'wicks' for the syringes, etc.
