IART 117 Intro to the Arts

Since Simply Complicated suggested that there are at least 3 of us in this class for the summer session, I tought I'd start a thread about it.

Gripe number 1: I've only taken the nursing courses and so haven't had to use Blackboard until now. I'm not diggin' the system: Too many screens to navigate through, clunky interface, breadcrumbs either not enabled or nor working, mouse buttons not enabled. Very 1990's technology. End of gripe.

Anyone still following this, lol? We've been pretty quiet this summer. Just curious if everyone got their discussions done for module 7? The course schedule says through the 5th, which is Sunday as it has been the entire class. But when I logged in just after midnight Saturday night to do my response, it has already been pulled. So now I will be short a response, and didn't get the extra credit in. The course schedule overlaps Discussion 7 and 8, but it does not state that 7 ends a day early. I emailed the TA, but being that it's the weekend, I don't expect to get a response.
We should have until midnight tonight. I haven't finished my Wk 7 blog or extra credit yet either but there doesn't seem to be a problem for my section in BB. If you don't get a response back from your TA, I would e-mail him or her with your assignments. The may not be accepted but at least this way, you have proof that they were completed prior to the deadline and that the system was at fault. Good luck.

I actually got a response back and the discussion is back up! I didn't think I'd hear anything on a Sunday. I have to finish my blog too, but that was still up. It was just the discussion, which I have to do my response to someone else. Either way it was fixed, so I'm good.

Trying to finish up the final paper today but am puzzled by the content required. The "thesis" requirement is clear, as is "description" and "historical context". I'm not clear about what both "participation" and "concept" are supposed to be though.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Participation is the same as the paper we did on architecture. So however you "participated" in your piece of artwork for that. Concept I am honestly confused as all on. It's the same was what our theater blog was supposed to be. So the "theme" I guess. But I lost points on the blog, and didn't get any comments so I really have no direction for that one. I'm doing my paper using the architecture I went and saw, which was a church/basilica shrine so I'm just going with spirituality as far as the concept I think. At this point I honestly don't care, haha. I am having my baby on Friday, I just want to be done. I still have to finish the major project for Business comm.as well. I have A's in the classes, with extra credit for this one keeping me over 100%. As long as I stay at 100 I'm content, lol.

When I submitted my final paper, it came back from SafeAssign with 43% matching. I nearly had a cow but when I checked, it was matched against my own previous paper! The really odd thing is that out of the ~2,000 words in my final paper, less than about 300 are from the old paper - nowhere near 43%. Since there's a 25% limit on re-cycling your previous paper, I wonder if I'm going to get dinged. Anyone know how this works?

No feedback on my final paper - or either of the previous ones for that matter. My guess is that I got dinged for being over the word limit and maybe a point or 2 for not having enough on "concept". Just guessing though.

My TA actually emailed my paper with grade and comments. He always did that, i got dinged for what Chukster said believe i ended up with 52.
