I Wonder How Long...

Nurses General Nursing

Before a health care company tries this nonsense:

Seems to be "all the rage" these days. I'm just getting the feeling that sooner or later there will be a wide-spread, non industry-specific nationwide strike crossing many professions / trades.

And the Dow will lose 2000 points in just a few days.

Well, considering that a lot of CEOs receive a bulk of their pay in stock options and profit sharing, many of them have taken massive pay cuts already and many CEOS of large corporations (Ford, GM, Citigroup) have already signed their contracts to work for $1 per year. And yes, I see your point and I don't necessarily believe in making low end workers suffer while the upper end still get fat. But I would do that at my facility, where our CEO declined her raise last year. Something tells me that the CEO of British Airways has also taken a large income decrease as well.

1) find me one that doesnt have a very ample base salary....and what you mention are perks..excepting those below, done for publicity

2)this would be their salary, what perks do they still have?

Like many (or most) of you, I understand the meaning of sacrifice.

Personal Sacrifice

Professional Sacrifice

Intellectual Sacrifice

The point I'm trying to reach here is that the FIRST group the "powers that be" will try this con game with is Nurses.

Nurses that are too damned busy worrying about their patients.

The typical MBA bean-counter looks at Doctors and sees them as "revenue streams". Tell me the last time you heard of an MD being thrown overboard.

**crickets**

That same MBA looks at Nurses and sees "Cost Center"...and the even more offensive "Administrative BURDEN".

And for the earlier poster that quoted the Good Book:

Exodus 5:8

'...But require them to make the same number of bricks as before; don't reduce the quota. They are lazy; that is why they are crying out, 'Let us go and sacrifice to our God.'

And although this is often attributed to the Bible...it really IS NOT.

No, I would not work for free. Like many people I'm barely a float now, any sort of decrease in income would severely impact my ability to financially survive and I have no interest in becoming a homeless martyr for the hospital I work for.
