Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

Hi everyone,

I seldom ever post, but I enjoy reading and have learned so much. I really appreciate the sharing. Anyway, to get to the point. I have been an LPN for 15 years, and have become increasingly frustrated with my limitations. I am a good, good nurse. Can anyone please tell me how to start working on becoming a registered nurse. I want to do it online. I have absolutely no college credits. I am a single mother, and would need financial assistance all the way. Where do I start? I have absolutely no money to put towards my education. If anyone can share with me, I would appreciate it. I have read many posts on distance learning, none seem to fit my exact situation. Thanks in advance.

Hi, born to nurse,:balloons:

About the only advice I have for you is, go online to allnursingschools.com and get the phone number/email address of a school that interests you. Do it now and you will be on your way to that RN......

born to nurse,

I would suggest that you look into the Deaconess College of Nursing program at http://www.deaconess.edu. While the tuition for this program is alot higher than a community college, they do accept Federal Financial Aid, which means Pell Grant Money and Stafford Loans.

I would suggest Excelsior as it is independent learning and less expensive but you have to come up with the money for your tuition as they do not accept Federal Financial aid.

Also check out your local community colleges. The one near me just started implementing an online version of their LPN to ASN, so that working LPNs only have to do their clinicals face to face. Perhaps a community college in your area is doing the same.

I hope this helps...

Cheri :)

If you are employed by a hospital check to see if they cover tuition, most will pay for it.
