Published

I have experience in L&D for 2 years but I want to change to do something else in nursing such as Dialysis yet I contact places that only will hire RN with ICU or ER experience. I am looking for a place that is willing to train me but not answers yet there is a place that will train me but it cost $6000.00 I dont know have all that money but I have all put all my energy in something if I could get the opportunity

thank you:idea:

The reason for this is a basic working experience caring for renal failure and associated conditions ( cardiac, hematologic etc) . Unfortunately L & D nurses don't have recent expernience in this type of patient management. Rather than spend $6000 ( outrageous), I would go to work on wither an ICU , ED, or med-srug floor and then transfer in to a dialysis area. this way, you're earning while learning:twocents:

Yep, what she said. I hope it works out for you!

Although the cost of symposiums and seminars is becoming prohibitive (IMO), perhaps you may want to consider attending a seminar that focuses on renal pathophysiology and its effects on other organ systems. As another poster suggested, find a position on a med surg floor. This will be a good steeping stone for accomplishing your goal to "switch gears," so to speak. When a job opportunity comes your way, try to "shadow" a nurse in that nursing specialty before making a decision.

Best of luck!
