Hi there-
I was wondering if it is hard to get a job in a Denver hospital if I live in the springs. I would like to work in Denver if possible. I am a 40 year old male, new grad.
Thanks for any replies.

I don't recommend commuting! They are dong so much work on the highway lately and when it snows, IT SNOWS! Possibly look into living in Castle Rock, CO, if you can afford it or some suburn of Denver. I've lived in Colorado Springs my whole life, so I definitely know what it's like here. Good luck!

When I lived in the Springs, I remember hearing a lot about people commuting to Denver and how sometimes the roads would get pretty nasty in winter. I would not recommend it myself.

There are people that do the commute but like the other posters stated the commute sucks. You have solid traffic from Castlerock on in the morning and from C470 to Castlerock in the evening. If you were working nights it might be doable since you are going against traffic both ways. It would help if it was Sky Ridge or Parker as a hospital. Going much farther into Denver would turn it into a true hell trip.
As for Weather the Palmer Divide makes the weather there pretty bad. Denver and Colorado Springs have different weather patterns. So you get exposed to snow events in both areas and the crazy weather on the divide itself. From the magic of the Internet:

Overall I couldn't recommend it and would definitely have a good four wheel drive in the winter. That part of I-25 gets closed about 2-3 times per year so having some place to stay if stranded would also help.
Good Luck

Besides having a four wheel drive vehicle, it is highly recommended that you have a winter survival stash in your trunk. My husband commuted to Canyon City and they had to have things like a shovel, blankets, food, etc. Anybody who travels around in this area should have this sort of stuff, along with their tire chains, in the winter. Just being careful.
