Hello,

Hang in there. You'll make it and it will be worth it in the end. Try to get some rest this weekend, if you can. Going to school and working is draining. You'll make it, just picture yourself finished with A&P at the end of the semester.:)

Hang in there!! AP is just SO MUCH! I took it last semester. It was my only class but I also worked a full time job and have 2 small kids. I feel your pain! i was so drained. Plus I just wasnt retaining the info, so I made a C in the class. This semster I am taking Micro and I pre-read the chapters and record the lecture. So it seems to be going a little more smoothly. I've got a system down, unlike last semester where I had no set study schedule. Good luck to you. HANG IN THERE!!

Im not sure how long your class was, but mine was a bit accelerated and was 2 months long including the lab.

Our tests generally covered 3-4, sometimes 5 chapters, every 1.5 weeks on average. To prepare for tests that were 5 days away, I would study one chapter per day, then on the day BEFORE the test I would get together a study group to refresh over all chapters or study alone, both ways worked well.

Try not to cram all your studying into one day, I would suggest doing a little bit each day, as I did, this way you learn at an adequate pace and you will be able to retain the information much better.

I would read each chapter thoroughly (ask yourself after each section, do I understand what I just read, if not, read it again, and believe me when I say, my short term memory is shot! I can't remember where I place anything, but reading each section over and over helped me) then read end of chapter summaries then do the chapter quizzes. Any questions I missed, I went back and re-read those sections.

On the review day(s), I would go over all keywords (yea there can be a lot of them) and chapter summaries, flash cards can work here, I am just too lazy to make them.

Although, I was provided powerpoint slides for each lecture, I ignored them and READ straight from the book. I found that it is much easier to understand a concept when reading about the topic in-depth.

I tried a variety of methods to do well in A&P. From highlighting my textbook, extensive reading, etc.

In the end, I just did what I wrote and got A's in A&P I&II.

I hope this helps.

Hi! I am new to the boards and I am also taking A&P II along with Psychology and I work full time. I feel like I could pass out at my desk right now! Last semester, I took A&P I and English Comp I and I passed them both with A's and don't remember being this worn out. I'm starting to get worried!!

I am 33 with a full time job and this is my first time attending college in my life. Well, actually I am taking my classes online, but will go to an actual class once I start nursing school. I still plan to work full time and go to nursing school 3 nights a week and occasional Saturdays - that is, if I can handle it.

I too have had a couple of nights where I am really stressed out about this A&P2 class I work 40 hrs a week and Im taking 2 classes. My class is from 5-10:15 (lec lab by the same prof). My semester just started and Im tired already.

We started with the Endocrine system and Im at a loss for words .

I got an A in A&P 1 and I know I can handle this class.

Ill just keep plugging away. We can do this!!!

PurposebyDesign,

I am also studying the Endocine System right now in A&P II, and it's alot of info to absorb. I got an A in A&P I and i don't remember it being this hard. What I have found though, is if you got to youtube.com and search for "endocrine" or "pituitary" or "growth hormone" or anything related, there's alot of educational videos that are helpful. Some are only a few seconds long and some are over an hour, but if I am having trouble understanding something, I can usually find a video to help me visualize it.

Specializes in Telemetry and Psych.

*sigh*

I'm so stressed and so tired. I too feel overwhelmed. Working 40 + hours a week, taking A&P II and Anthropology is killing me. I wake up everyday feeling so anxious. Sometimes I just don't want to get out of bed.

I can't call off because I work as one of the senior ops managers, but then by the time i get home from work, i don't want to crack open the book either.

I'm doing well in the classes right now but with it being so early in the semester......how much gray hair am i going to have by the end of the semester..lol.

BUT...i will prevail!! (somehow). Hang in there everyone! Thank you to the original poster for putting this here...I needed to vent.

I recently returned to school part-time to start my pre-reqs. I started two weeks ago. I am so exhausted, too!!! This evening, I have been laying on the couch and can hardly move. I swear I was going to fall asleep while I was standing in line today. I'm hoping that my body will be more used to this next week.

A real help can be the study guides with the questions relating to each chapter. If your proff uses the test bank that comes with the instructors set, this will make a huge diff on test day.

A lot of my proff use powerpoints they created four or five editions b4 and then the test bank for the current volume of the book, making their powerpoints of little use at all.

Awww I'm sorry you're tired. I hate that feeling & I've been having so much of it recently....maninly because i haven't been doing what's listed below.

Maybe you're stressed. Try to have some fun, go out, watch some tv, get more sleep, and exercise always helps. good luck. :wink2:
