Hi Nurses,
pleASE help...i did a urine drug test yesterday for a new job and tested positive for benzodiazepam...i have never taken that in my entire life and i dont do drugs of any kind.
i am currently taking bactrim ds for a foot infection and thought that the antibiotcs has to be the cause. they told me the lab would call me and then ask me for the pharmacy info
i called the pharmacist today about the BACTRIM DS ALSO CALLED SULFAMETH/ TMP DS. HE SAID hes not aware of that causing a positive drug test.
i looked on the internet last night and found 1 article that states bactrim causes positive result for benzo
HELP I AM HURT BECAUSE I AM INNOCENT
Wow! Looks like it's been years since someone came on here! I tested positive for benzos on a drug test and I know damn well I didn't take any! They are sending it off to a lab! If I really did not take any, shouldn't this test come back negative? I have been in pain management for 5 years and have come up positive for ecstasy (I didn't know what it was then) marijuana, cocaine! The 2nd test all came back negative! I do not take drugs except what pain management gives me! I'm almost 60 years old for Christs sake!

What was the end result?

1. They usually do confirmation tests at an outside lab. Most places won't just accept a result without confirmation on those instant tests.
2. The company processing the confirmation test may call you and ask you what you have been taking (over the counter and rx) and to provide proof of rx.
Not fun, but false pos. happen.
