Hi all,
I have decided to purse a CNA position by the start of the new year. I found a school in Orlando that offers the class on the weekends, which is great for me. I work fulltime and attend 2 evening classes for my pre-reqs for nursing school. The weekend CNA classes are only 2 weekends and then you take the state exam for a total cost of $500.00 which includes books and a uniform. I am registering for classes in Dec, fall semester will be over at my CC and I can give my full attention to the CNA class.
I was sooo tired of complaining about my current job, I'm just going to take the pay cut and figure it out as I go along. As long as the mortgage and car note are paid, I will eat at soup kitchens everyday and sit in the dark if necessary. It's time to move on and do something that will bring me closer to my goal. I lost financial aide money because I couldn't take a full coorifice load due to my m-f 8 to 5 job. I would really like to go to school full time and use all the financial aid and finish these classes. The hospitals pay a starting salary of $8.50 an hour but I think the TLC pay a little more. I will be taking at least a $8.00 pay cut but I got to make this work, I am tired of worrying about how I'm going to make ends meet. I just need to do it already.
Has anyone else felt like me and done the same thing, how did you manage financially. Was it worth it.
I feel bad that I find myself posting about my unhappiness with my job often, I apoligize if it's anoying and repeatative. But I can't help it, it's depressing me, I actually called in sick today.
Any advice:confused:

Plunge on, brother....
Do what you love and the money will follow.... I'm giving up a lucrative teaching contract ($310 per day) to focus on FT nursing (right now CNA work)--
While I do love to teach, the contract requires 100% travel, has no benefits or retirement... And I pay my own taxes... In the end I take home about $20 an hour teaching....
I think that when we show our faith by taking action, the rest of the universe aligns to support us.
Don't really have advice... just words of encouragement... Bless you for making the world a better place!

You actually could have been someone that was writing for myself. I also live in orlando and am sick of complaining about my job and also am taking a weekend course, two weekends ( can't help but wonder if it's from the same place ). About an 8 dollar decrease in pay also. Whatever life is too short! Do something that you are going to enjoy and won't be miserable at.
