I just could not talk myself into going to work this week. Ive been a nurse for 9 months, and other than the regular days off I have not had a break. I think the stress finally took its toll.
Is this too soon to need a break?

Everyone needs time off, although it would have been more considerate of you to ask for vacation time so they could cover your absence, rather than call out and leave your colleagues short.

Not at all. Everyone needs regular breaks. That's why we have vacation days.
It sounds as if you are not taking care of yourself. You need to schedule regular breaks, have a life outside of work, and find other ways/activities to ease your stress on a regular basis. These things need to be done EVERY DAY (or almost), not just once or twice per year.
People who don't take care of themselves (and manage their stress) on a regular basis burn out quick.

Whoa.......no, not too soon to need a break, but not going in for more than one day like that is not cool. We all get to that point, but the smart ones take care of themselves so that, when we do get tired, we can hang on until we get vacation time.
