I am so stressed....I will be taking the NET in March 08 and I am freaking out over it. I bought the NET study guide...I read it EVERYDAY..I take practice tests online and it constantly dominates my thoughts. I have a few questions for those of you that have taken it. What is the hardest part about it? Is the study guide just like the test(format-wise) ? How hard is the MATH part?( THIS is mainly what I am stressed about:o)...I have never been good at Math and this has been my "Achilles heel" all through out school. I seem to have a mental block when it comes to math and I do not understand why. I LOVE to READ so I do not think that will be my problem(hopefully;))..IT will be that Freaking Math part that keeps me out of nursing school and that worries me to death. Does anyone have any advice on how not to stress over this???
Thanks!!!!!

Math has never been my most enjoyable subject. The only thing I have found as I go along is that I have to face it head on. If I know I am weak in a certain area I have been taking classes and using tutors to better myself in those parts. Perhaps you could take some math classes prior to taking the test? Then you might feel a bit more prepared and have less anxiety to face.

The version of the NET that I took in April was identical to the NET study guide I had. The math was just like the book, so if you are familiar with the problems in the book you will be fine. Try not to freak yourself out about the test so much. I think most people go in a bit nervous but once you start and see that the problems are nearly identical to those in the guide you will be able to relax and take your test.

I just took the NET. I found the hardest part was the science. You really need to know the conversion of the temperatures, like Kelvin to Celcius. Also know some of the terms for electricty. The math wasn't that difficult for me but math is my strong subject. Make sure you know how to do porportions and percents. I found their was a lot of these type of problems. There were a few Algebra problems. Know how to find the solution to two equations.
Good Luck

When I took the NET, it had no science on it, only math and reading.

My NET test also only had math and reading.
Your biggest enemy on the NET is TIME. For example, the reading passages aren't difficult, but you have to think about the questions and you only have 30 minutes. Keep track of the time! And don't think too much about any one question.
Time will also rear its head on the Math portion, especially if you get stuck on a problem. My advice is not to "get stuck", but to move on and answer easier questions. I took the NET w/paper and pencil, so I was able to go back to questions if I had time, but I don't know if you can do that on the computerized version.
If you're using the Study Guide and you've taken the eriworld.com practice test, you'll be fine. There are no surprises on the NET if you use their study materials.
Take a break from worrying -- March is a ways off yet! :) And best of luck!

My NET exam had Math, Reading Comp & Science along with a ton of other questions that really didnt' have an impact on my grade. I hear alot of people say they had only Math & Reading Comp, but mine didn't. Like the above poster, TIME is where you need to focus because the work is review and easy to do. Best wishes.

If you can do all the problems in the ERI study guide practice tests in the back of the book, you should have no problem. Just keep retaking the tests until you have them all right. I think I got a 97 on the math portion and it has been a long while since I have had a math class. (I had trouble with the reading portion. I was too slow.) I took my NET last spring and I made up flash cards to help me remember some of the math concepts. My test had math, reading, science, study skills and grammar/english portions. The score as far as passing only factors in the math and reading scores. I think they look at the other scores like the science just to see what areas you are weak in. Good Luck!

I just took the NET in Nov 07 in the paper format, the test is exactly like the study guide, do every math problem on the practice test, and make sure you time yourself, you only get 30 minutes! The reading portion appears easy, but it isn't. The answers are all closely related, and you have to pick the BEST answer, once again, you only get 30 minutes! There is also a basic science section, grammar/capitalization, stress, and testtaking skills section. These section scores do not have a basis on your total NET score, and are not covered in the study guide.
THANKS EVERYONE!!! Your replies have made me feel better about taking the NET test and I have been studying ratios, proportions and the algebra parts like a MAD WOMAN so by March I should be able to know them "backwards and forwards".
