Can I collect unemployment? I do not see how I will be able to afford to work. Just curious if anyone has done that.

I don't think so. If you are fired or laid off, I think it would be possible, but not if you quit. This may vary from state to state.

NO. You do not get unemployment if you quit. UC is for those who became unemployed by the action of others. If you are fired for cause you won't get it either.

I didn't think so. Wishful thinking. I would never get myself fired to collect unemployment.
That wouldn't work, anyway -- you're not eligible if you're fired for cause. One is only eligible for unemployment if you are laid off for no fault of your own.

In my state if you quit or are fired for cause you can't collect UI. You can only get UI if you are laid off through no fault of your own. However, in the other circumstances you can appeal your case and in some cases, collect. The burden of proof is on the ex-employee.
