They were lucky it was the last lecture of the quarter and the sunny weather put me in a good mood. I paid $400 for this A&P class and $300 for the book and these 4 people behind me would not shut up. I swear the entire lecture. And I know the teacher could hear them and see they weren't paying attention, but he doesn't do anything about it. I almost turned around and ripped them a new one.
I think some of them are in next quarters a&p 2 with me. If they do this next quarter, what do I saw to them, in a polite way, to let them know they need to shut up. Or should I address the professor?
I'm not looking to make friends, but I'm also not looking to make enemies either.
I agree with walomom. There's no reason to stoop to their level of rudeness by telling them to "shut up." First try telling them politely that their conversation is distracting to those of you sitting near them. Or simply ask them to please keep it down as you cannot hear the lecture. They're probably clueless as to how much they're bothering you.
If a gentle admonishment (or two) is not sufficient, then go to the professor.

Yes, I agree with smclendon -- I think the other poster was merely trying to explain why those chatterboxes were clearly not serious about the class. It didn't come across to me that she meant EVERYONE on financial aid behaved that way, but maybe that was why the talkers didn't seem to value what they were getting.
I noticed in my A&P class lately: the ones who are talking during lecture are discussing other things about the lesson, disregarding what the prof is saying at the moment. It has been bugging me, not only because it is a huge distraction to me, but because it feels disrespectful to the speaker.
