So, I graduated in December from my school's LVN program, and on the last day we did the ATI Comp Predictor. There was a lot of distractions around me because our teacher kept having problems with some people's tests not working and computers not working.. etc. Mine did work but because of all those distractions, I ended up with a 40% chance of passing my nclex on the first try. I was disappointed by that, but I vowed to not let it get me down.
I already had the Saunders book, so I did questions from there, starting from 20 a day to 100 a day a few weeks before my test, I also signed up for the NCSBN 5 week NCLEX review program because I was willing to do anything to pass and I needed to review things, I even bought the NCLEX PN mastery app. I also did 100 questions a day a few weeks leading up to the test on NCLEX 3000, on days I didn't do Saunders (not sure if y'all knew about this, it's at nclex.dover.edu), I even did some ATI practice since I had to pay for it as part of my program. In all,l I probably did about 3,000 questions from everything.
I also held study groups with my friends from class, and we helped each other out by doing questions together.
On February 23, Monday this week, I took my NCLEX, and while I was nervous, I thought positive thoughts, like "I will be a nurse", "fail is not in my vocabulary", "I will pass this test", I didn't even want to call it an exam because that would put more pressure on me. I also prayed a lot.
As I went through the test, I tried not to take too much time on a question because if I do, I end up second guessing myself and choosing the wrong answer.
My test had 12-13 select all that apply questions, 1 ekg, 2-3 drugs, 1 drag and drop (on how to administer ear drops), and no math.
I ended up taking 1 hour and 40 minutes, and my test ended up with 85 questions.
I remember the test administrator asking me how I felt, I was speechless, and I didn't know what to tell her. A part of me felt good because all of my friends who had 85 questions ended up passing.
I haven't been able to really sleep since then, and this morning I woke up, and paid for my quick results, and I passed! So happy to see that result.
So my advice is think positively and do a lot of NCLEX questions. If you have the means to, do NCSBN's program, I think that helps with critical thinking.
This is my story.
