I passed! And How I Did It!

Published

Hi everybody, I found out I passed the NCLEX-RN today! I had 75 questions, tons of Priority and Meds, some Infection control, a few Peds, and a couple of SATA, OB and Psych. I just want to wish everybody the best of luck and share my study plan.

I used:

1. Kaplan: I did all the Qtrainers and QBank questions. I didn't use their course book or watch the videos. I found it so boring. My Qtrainer scores were -> QT1-58, QT2-66, QT3-54, QT4-62, QT5-64, QT67. My Qbank scores were in the 50's and 60's; my average was 62.

2. Hurst Review: I really enjoyed these videos to review content. Marlene Hurst is really good at teaching and breaking it down so you can get the big picture with all the disease processes. She also has some very helpful delegation and priority questions.

3. Saunders Comprehensive Review Book: I only did 60% of the quizzes in this book because I ran out of time. I mainly skimmed over the parts that Hurst Review didn't cover.

I studied almost everyday for 5 weeks, about 5-6 hours a day. And I always made sure to read every rationale!

Specializes in ICU, Heart/Lung transplant.

Congrats! Thanks for the info. I'm really not that close to taking the NCLEX. I have 5 months before I grad, but I'm already freakin out about it.

Congratulations! :)

jablonec, I found Hurst Review to be well worth the money. Her videos are great and engaging to review content. You can log on anytime to watch the videos. With Hurst, you have to make sure you know everything in her notes.

Have you looked into Suzanne's Plan? I heard that it is a great plan with high pass rates and there is no charge.

mercedesbattista, I know the feeling. All you can do to prepare for the NCLEX is study the content and do lots of questions. After you do that, I think you will do great!
