I Passed ANCC FNP today!!!

I posted a few months back but quick background... I was ANCC certified as an Adult NP since 2005. I decided to go back for my FNP so I completed a Post Masters Program through UMASS Boston. Because I was already an Adult NP, I was A&E to do the 12 credit hour/300 clinical hour option. Well I did it!!! These boards were tough in my opinion. If you have any questions, now is the time to ask while it's fresh on my mind. :D

Did you have a lot of new types of questions: pics, multiple- multiple, put in priority order? If so what did you think about them. That is my biggest fear in taking the ANCC test.

Yes there was a fair amount of those questions but they actually weren't bad at all. The question would say what two things or what three things so you knew how many answers were right. There is a good amount of healthcare practice type questions and research ranking. Of course I don't know my score yet so I honestly don't know how well or poor I did but that I passed!!!

What materials did you use for studying ? I feel like I have something and feel a little overwhelmed in how to approach studying. I am a nervous wreck, I am a good student but putting the action towards testing is completely different. I'm open to take any advise you have

congrats! I'm scheduled in a few weeks. I've taken Fitzgerald have both books. Leik, apea, CDs of fitz . Dunphy and I've taken two review test Fitzgerald and Barkley . I just purchased the http://www.familynpprep.com 25 test bundle. ( here is also a discount code that anyone can use SAVE-ULYVW,) I feel that I'm all over the place . I recently passed too!! For me, the most surprising thing was the number of alternate type of test questions- I had several pictures, drag and drop ordering and select all that apply. The good thing about the test is that for the select all that apply questions, they let you know how many to select unlike most of the practice test items I've seen. I thought the Leik FNP Certification Intensive Review- Fast Facts and Practice Questions and the Fitzgerald NP Certification Exam and Practice Prep books were the most helpful. I also purchased the 2012 Fitzgerald Review CDs/workbook that I listed to throughout the FNP program and study period. I too used the familynpprep tests. I thought I would be able to do more online tests over throughout my study time so I went a little overboard and purchased 35 tests- I still have 30 unused tests if anyone would like to buy them from me. I am also selling the Fitzgerald CDs and a Leik Adult Certification Intensive Review book. I think the book would be just as helpful as the FNP one I mainly used, just minus the peds section. Let me know if anyone is interested!

I used Fitzgerald FNP online review course. I listened to that a lot. I also took her test. I also used the 2 volume ANCC review books and took the test in the back of the book. I bought 10 test from FNPtest but I actually only took four of the test. I also used the

Sorry I hit send before I was done typing. Lastly I also used the Leik Family NP Intensive Review along with 300 questions in the back of the book. I really liked this book. But overall I would say I got something from each of the review sources that I used and also increased confidence from all the practice test. Be prepared to rank research and be prepared to recognize some common derm pics. I didn't follow the study plan I set for myself because life has a way of "getting in the way". So I would just recommend trying to stick to your plan as much as possible and start with your weak areas. Good luck!!
