Ok I need to read 10 chapters this night because I have a test tomorrow. I try to read even 1 paragraph and my mind wonders off and I think of other stuff. If I try very hard to focus UI can last 5 minutes and after this my mine wonders off and I get sleepy.
How do I read and what can help me improve reading skills?

Um, there is nothing we can tell you that will make 10 chapters stick if you waited until the night before the exam to read them. Sorry.
I have been reading the chapters for the passed week so I kind of know the info. Just wondering what I should do better for my next exam. ANy type of reading or study tips.
I have some type of concentration or focusing problem.

try not to read all at once... i would read in 30 min increments... i also think reading out loud helps too.

maybe you can try breaking up the reading into smaller more manageable sections that you can read more often throughout the day instead of in 1 long shot, try taking breaks often or doing a small work out before studying so you release any excess energy and anxiety you might have built up.

Do you have any index cards? Skim through each paragraph and pick out the key factors/points and print them on index cards, so you can lay in bed or sit at your desk and flip through them over and over, then quiz yourself a little, or maybe even get a notebook and create an outline for each chapter! That way you're incorporating more of a hands-on task to help you remember the material, rather than just reading text! Good luck! :)

If you are having serious concentration problems (if you notice it is a serious problem not only for school but in other aspects of your life) you might have ADD? Maybe you should see your doctor to see if he thinks you need some concentration meds?
I wish I could but I heard those psychiatrists are expensive and i cant afford that or the meds because I have no job or insurance.
From what I've heard from fellow college students (and honestly, this is because they were trying to get this medicine for recreational use, which is terrible!!) you can just go to a general practioner (not a doc-in-the-box, but just your regular doctor) and talk about your issues and if he/she thinks you sound legitimate, he/she will write you a script. But, that's just second-hand info.
As far as studying, maybe find a way to make studying more interactive, like reading your textbook while walking/jogging on the treadmill? Or just pacing around? That way you couldn't become sleepy. Flashcards are pretty good, too, it's almost like playing a game with yourself (so nerdy, haha).
If I go to a psychiatrist will it show up in my record? Will it affect if I get a job?
I think I am sick cuz I cant concentrate when I read.

Here's what I do... As soon as we start on new chapters I try to trad a little every night... Maybe a chapter each night or even less depending how many chapters I have and how long before the next exam. After I'm finished reading the chapters, I sit at my computer with my textbook open and skim through each chapter and type up a study guide using mainpoints from the chapters which I highlighted while I was reading. This way I am rereading over my chapters in a way and in the end I'll hsve a study guide

If you are having issues concentrating and think you are ill, you need to see your Healthcare Provider. We cannot provide you with advice about that. Members can give you studying pointers, but beyond that, we cannot address medical advice and whether it will "show up on your record".
