I need a job, where can i find one?

Published

Hi everyone

I am new here and this is my first thread, as you can read the title i need a job and i am getting frustrated. I am a foreign nurse (my 1st language is French), i passed my nclex last year and worked for about 9months in a convalescent home (i have experience :), ). Since december of last year i have been looking for a job and it is really frustrating and sad because i know people who have no qualifications therefore have an excuse for not finding a job what is mine (excuse)? I have a degree and am willing to work hard (my butt off to be explicit) unfortunately for me i do not personnally know any D.O.N who could hire me (that is how it works i have been told). I do not know what to do anymore if anyone knows a hospital, nursing home... looking for an R.N please let me know. i have a degree, i am young (my mom always told me work as much as you can while you are young)and the only thing that i want to do is to work (I still have hope, at least i passed my nclex). I am ready to relocate anywhere in California (i am in southern California). thanks.

Try the various job websites and look in different areas of the state on your searches if you are willing to relocate. A good employment website is http://www.indeed.com. This site compiles job listings from the other major employment websites like careerbuilder and monster. Good luck.

Also don't forget http://www.caljobs.ca.gov. I found a job one time using the EDD website.

Thank you caliotter3 for your answer, i will check caljobs and hope to find somethimg.

Since you're French, would you mind working in Canada?

Hello.

When you say foreign nurse, do you mean you're in the US with a working visa?

i do not mind working anywhere. how do i do to work in Canada and how long is the process?

i am a foreign trained nurse and i have a green card.

Sault Calypso1! Comment ça va? Je suis bien pour toi vraiment.

I'm still in nursing school here in Bakersfield, California. My nursing instructors told us that there is a current 67% unemployment rate for Northen California, so most of the jobs for RNs are in Southern or Central Valley California. I'm from the San Francisco Bay Area, but I go to nursing school here in CSUB. My instructors said that the employment rate for the Central Valley in California is great because there is a huge demand from Fresno to Bakersfield and into the LA area. I want to go back to the Bay Area after I graduate from CSUB but I'm afraid that there might not be a job spot for me, so what ever offer I've been given in this area I will take, even if it has to make me relocate to Southen California. My advice for you is to check out the Central Valley or Southern California areas. I would love to work in the San Francisco area for how it resembles a "Europe in California feeling," but in this case, I am not sure anymore. I would stay in California if I were you because it's such a great state with high standards and a great life. Besides, you've passed the NCLEX too for the USA, you might as well make that effort of passing the NCLEX worth it, d'accord?

Bon chance!
