I have been an LPN for about 14 yrs now, got my license in nj and relocated to az about 4 yrs ago. I spent most of my nursing career in ltc and have been doin hospice for 3 yrs now and i love it. I have learned so much about palliative care and realize thats what i want to do.
I have received a complaint on nursing license ...probably from a disgruntled employee from the company i work for ...she did not leave on good terms and attempted to tarnish the name of our director of clinical services before she left so they pretty much gave her an ultimatum either she leave or get fired. Both me and my DCS have received complaints against our license even after the company did their own investigation and found her complaints against our DCS unfounded.
This nurse has a strong history that she bragged to me about reporting facilities to the state and etc....Why do people feel the need to hurt people?
Her allegations are not true, I have never lied to get medications for a patient, I have never falsified documentation and in the letter she gives no specific situations just general complaints....I am really really sad and it hurts me as i love what i do so much....I just am not the type or person to retaliate......
She proclaims to be on a mission from God to save people....Is this what Gods people do??....deliberately and methodically attempt to destroy others?:....I think not..My God is a loving forgiving God....I dont know what God she serves but they r not the same.
Anyway....please keep me in prayer...any advice would be helpful
thank u for letting me vent
wow i guess noone could give me any help...anyway...thanks all i asked for was some support even though i'm only an LPN ....I'm really sincerely discouraged now...i'm really scared

Hi there,
I am sorry that no one responded to your post. You are not "only an LPN" you are a nurse no matter what initials follow your name!
I agree that I do not understand why people need to hurt each other, some people are just malicious. I think that most hospice nurses that I have come across are very gentle, kind people, but I guess there are a few bad apples in every group.
I don't know what advice I can give you, other than to try to stay strong and keep up the prayers. You are in my prayers and I am sending you big ((hugs)). :heartbeat

Sorry you haven't got as many responses as you wanted. However, please know that we sincerely do care. As to advice, I think you are doing what you should be doing: going on with your life and dealing with these complaints as you need to. It is a shame that there are a few people in this world that are miserable and like to share the misery.
As an aside, in order to get more responses, you might try posting in the general nursing forum versus a specialized forum. I wish you the best.

expounding on what trauma said, the bon does recognize the potential lashbacks from disgruntled employees/employers/families...
so yeah, go on doing what you're doing.
and keep your chin up and out...
always.

I have found in all pof my years of nursiing that not everyone is just and fair in dealing with people. Since you are a caring person you will unfortunately be the object of someone's anger. Christians are not supposed to do as she did, it is not biblical. A Christian is supposed to go to the person first and if no resolution is supposed to go with someone from the church to the person and if still not resolved to take it to the congregation. Her idea of God's mission is not correct. I am sorry you were the object of her discontent, I also will pray for you and pray that justice will be done. God bless you. :redbeathe

I just happened to look @ this forum and heard your plea. Know you are not alone. Many good nurses have gone through this due to disgruntled employees. When I hear that a person is threatening to notify the state and bragging that they have done it before, I worry less. Probably the state already has her flagged as a crackpot.
She was unable to give specifics? BON will not be impressed by that. On a mission from God? That is probably strike 2 for her. A mission from God probably would include dealing with a perceived issue at the site rather than bothering BON.
Strike 3 as I see it is that you and your supervisor have documentation as to the reasons she was asked to leave. She will probably be seen as the crackpot that she sounds like.
Every caring nurse has pushed the MD to do things to make the patient comfortable. That does not mean they lie. They just pursue vigorously.
Hospice is a hard specialty. the BON will also probably recognize the difference between your role and that of a nurse in acute care.
I have found that to tell people not to worry is a waste of their time as well as mine. Rather worry about this issue appropriately. If asked about these allegations by the BON are you prepared to articulate clearly any rebuttal to these allegations. I doubt if you will need it, but, just in case.:redpinkhe
