I have been an LPN for 14yrs, many yrs in LTC which contains a high level of skilled care also, i've cared for some acutely ill patients as well as long term geriatrics. In my 14 yrs i've learned from some great LPNs as well as some great RNs .......i believe i am an excellent nurse, my clinical skill are beyond reproach i have gotten many compliments from doctors as well as my supervisors. I believe LPNs are just as important as RN's and should not be discriminated against as much as we are....We are all nurses because we care.

As an LPN i still have to answer to an RN and or Physician..... even if i am supervisor of a unit so i'm sure any decision she makes is supported by an RN.

My employer is very supportive of both me and my DCS , he has already contacted BON and already has his attorneys involved...Thank goodness which does make me feel better for the support.

I spent most of my nursing career in ltc and have been doin hospice for 3 yrs now and i love it. I have learned so much about palliative care and realize thats what i want to do. I have received a complaint on nursing license ...probably from a disgruntled employee from the company i work for ...she did not leave on good terms and attempted to tarnish the name of our director of clinical services before she left so they pretty much gave her an ultimatum either she leave or get fired. Both me and my DCS have received complaints against our license even after the company did their own investigation and found her complaints against our DCS unfounded. This nurse has a strong history that she bragged to me about reporting facilities to the state and etc....Why do people feel the need to hurt people? Her allegations are not true, I have never lied to get medications for a patient, I have never falsified documentation and in the letter she gives no specific situations just general complaints....I am really really sad and it hurts me as i love what i do so much....I just am not the type or person to retaliate...... She proclaims to be on a mission from God to save people....Is this what Gods people do??....deliberately and methodically attempt to destroy others?:....I think not..My God is a loving forgiving God....I dont know what God she serves but they r not the same. Anyway....please keep me in prayer...any advice would be helpful :confused:

wow i guess noone could give me any help...anyway...thanks all i asked for was some support even though i'm only an LPN ....I'm really sincerely discouraged now...i'm really scared

In helping to discuss DNR status with family i have found the book "Hard Choices for Loving People" very helpful i believe the author is Harry Dunn....

Speaking of pronouncement of death, I have worked in hospice for several yrs now and have been allowed to pronounce death of patients. Recently i was told that LPN's are not allowed to pronounce even in the hospice sector. I have emailed AZ board of nursing but have not gotten a response yet. So i guess my question is, is there a difference because it is a hospice patient or was i wrong in attending the deaths i attended for previous hospice company?

As a hospice LPN in the state of AZ i have had the pleasure of treating stage IV decubs on patients. Although it depends on your hospice orgainization I have assisted patients to go to wound clinics at least one time for a consultation and then continued with reccomendations that clinic made. Some hospice organizations may or may not agree to cover this expense but i think it is totally up to the CM and LPN to advocate for the best treatment for the patient....It is still about comfort and quality of life.
