Given another patient's medication to satisfy MAR.What do you do? Orientee
In our facility it is the 11-7 shifts job to reorder all open e-kits on a daily basis. This way if you are missing something like an insulin or a coumadin dose the kits are always fully stocked. Also we only have 1mg tabs in the coumadin kit. having 11-7 take over this responsibility have greatly reduced the frustration of not having a med. We also use Pharmerica and we have had our share of "plan of correction" meetings with them

On-Line MSN-FNP Program Recommendations??
Just in my first class this month, Nursing Leadership. I have to say that Master level courses are a lot more challenging than undergraduate..ugh. You really need to have a plan and commit to studying and getting all of the assignments done. I find it very challenging. Good Luck with whatever program you choose to attend :)

Taking the plunge
I cant wait to get back at the bedside. I have been doing management for the last 3 years in LTC/ Sub-Acute Rehab. I miss doing what I went to school for! I recently got my BSN so I think that helped me get into the hospital. So excited to start my new job! Nervous big time though!

Taking the plunge
Thanks for the comment RAINRN.....hoping that I made the right choice! What do you find to be the most challenging aspect of changing from LTC to hospital?

Taking the plunge
So I took the plunge and gave my notice. I have been in LTC/SNF nursing for the last eleven years. I had basically reached the last level in advancement before DON and Regional. It was a huge decision for me because I am currently making GOOD money (I've earned it). I was offered a part time job at a local hospital on the med-surg floor and I am super excited and utterly scared at the same time. I chose this decision because I really want to get back to bedside nursing and eventually become a nurse practitioner. Does anybody have some words of wisdom for me?? I am going to feel like a brand new grad all over again. I will be out of my comfort zone for sure but I cant wait for the challenge...

HUGE pay cut?
WOW Thank You, llg...that was a great post! "Are you willing to sacrifice your short term financial status in order to fulfill your long term goals?" This is the question that I am confronted with and honestly I would rather fulfill my goals than have material things..So I think my heart knows what to do!

HUGE pay cut?
CuriousMe I went on an interview at the hospital and I am pretty sure that I got it. The usual steps remain..reference checks etc. I haven't accepted it yet because they haven't given me a definite pay rate. They gave me an estimated amt. and it is a lot less than what I'm making now

HUGE pay cut?
To start off I am really asking for a little advice, Usually people view my posts but don't respond . I have 8 yrs experience in LTC and management. Also some sub-acute experience. I finally took the plunge into a hospital for a job interview because I want to continue on for my NP.( I applied and was not accepted due to my lack of acute care experience!!) So I think that I pretty much got the job BUT confused : SHOULD I TAKE THE JOB FOR LESS MONEY FOR THE EXPERIENCE OR CONTINUE WITH MY GROWTH IN LTC ??? (DON and onto REGIONAL) I keep weighing the pros and cons but would love to hear some advice or opinions from my fellow RN's out there!! Has anybody been in a similar situation?

I have bedside and managerial experience. Currently I am an ADON at a SNF. I really want to continue my education though! Im thinking of looking into the ANP program at umass Darthmouth.
