I need help with my NANDA Nursing Diagnoses

Hi Everyone. I am in the thrid semester of a four semester program. I have OB and Peds this semester and I am really struggling with my NDX.

This is my patient.

12 yo Male.

Facial trauma, MVA

Surgical reduction of Alveolar Fracture (tooth extraction)

Other than the incision line in his mouth, the swelling in his cheeks and bruising, His assessment was normal. His labs were all normal.

The NDX that I came up with were:

1. Risk for potential complications of craniocerebral Trauma (minor head injury) (risk for altered craniocerebral tissue perfusion related to Motor vehicle accident trauma)

2. Risk for altered nutrition less than body requirement related to modified diet order (pureed)

3. Risk for aspiration related to pureed diet and facial oral surgery and trauma.

4. Risk for infection related to wound contamination.

5. Alteration in body image related to facial oral surgery and trauma and tooth extraction.

My Nursing Instructor says that these are on the right track but aren't exactly what she is looking for. Can someone please offer some help. I would be SO grateful.

Thank you.

Something about learning needs?? since mva's are a leading cause of death/injury. I think the ones you have are really good. Also maybe fear..... how his peers will relate to his injuries? You know how kids are making fun of something different/maybe something to do with his speech if this has/will alter it any. Hope this helps.

Was he wearing a seat belt, had it been determined?

Teaching!

I would bet a paycheck you instructor wants you to teach him to know how to reduce injuries if he should ever be involved in an accident again.

I don't see anything about pain or anything about teaching? What about his emotional needs. That is awfully young to be admitted and have to stay there. He is also at the age of being concerned about his appearance.

Plus his energy fields will be altered, if that helps...
