:heartbeatHI,

IM VERY EXCITED BECAUSE IM ABOUT TO START MY NURSING SCHOOLING!

BUT I LIVE IN SAN DIEGO, AND I WANT TO START FULL TIME BUT I HAVE THREE KIDS WITH ONLY MY HUSBANDS INCOME. I WAS TOLD ABOUT ROP BUT I LOOKED ONLINE AND NOTHING SHOWED UP, SO I WAS REALLY THINKING ABOUT MARIC BECAUSE ITS WAY FASTER BUT ITS ABOUT 45 TO 50 GRAND! IF ANYBODY HAS ANY INFO ABOUT ANY ONLINE COURSES OR ROP PROGRAM OR SOMETHING FASTER OR SOMETHING THAT HELPS SINCE A HAVE A VERY LARGE FAMILY SIZE. ANYTHING WILL BE GREAT. PLEASE LET ME KNOW! THANKS!!:loveya:

you could try the grossmont evening/weekend RN program, but there's a 2+ year waiting list to get into the program. you won't find nursing school that's completely online, as you'll have to at least do your clinicals in the hospital, but i think the only online school in san diego (thru oklahoma state) requires a BA in another field. you might try looking up the LVN program at the grossmont health occupations center in santee, but i think it's a regular full-time day program... not sure if they offer evening/weekend classes. good luck to you! :)

Also, Jenny, check out "fast track" programs...I know they require less time getting through school, and I think a committment with a specific hosp.

Hi Jenny,

Not sure if you're going for the LVN or RN, but you might want to try looking up the website for Boston Reed, they do LVN and many other medical programs in the evenings and weekends and you can apply for financial aid and its usually at a junior college school site, so give that a try.

Just some advice: With any nursing program you decide to get into, it's going to be tough having to care for 3 kids (and a husband! :o) I'm in a BSN program right now and a lot of my friends in the program have kids. It's doable... but it will be difficult because your kids will seem to have less time with you because of studying so much and clinicals! So try to schedule time in for your kids and husband. But let them know before you start what's going to happen.... good luck and welcome to all that is nursing! :yeah:

I'm a working mom with 2 kids and an ex husband who helps me a lot. It's hard because I'm missing out on so much regarding my kids, but I know that it will pay off in the end. I'm doing the LVN program right now and once I"m finished I'm going to apply to the RN program. That's going to require me at least another 8 months minimum to finish the program. It will be worth it in the end.

Regarding a program that's faster really will take up a lot of your time. It's going to require you to study study and more studying all the time. You will really have no life. If that's something that you want to do, go online to the RN Board and they have on their education page schools that are fast track.

Good Luck
