I didn't make it in the nursing program. They let people in on a ranking system. They rank you by points for different classes and things that you have had. I had a 113 and the lowest to make it in was 123. ::sigh:: I was so excited. I'll be able to get in for the spring semester but I really wanted to start in August.
I guess things happen for a reason even if they suck sometimes.
I'm sorry things didn't work out the way you wanted. It always sucks when your plans get changed on you.
I don't know how your school or pre-reqs or anything work.... but would your schedule allow you to do something you like to do but maybe otherwise wouldn't have had time for? Like taking fun classes... dance or art? Or maybe just a class you've always had an interest in? I got off track in my nursing program and had a couple open semesters to deal with, and I ended up going for a minor in anthropology. It was the best decision I ever made! I love anthropology!! I'm even thinking about getting a masters in it.
Doing something you like to do is a good stress reliever too... and that's a very valuable thing in nursing school....
I didn't get into my program of choice for two years in a row...instead of waiting another year to get turned down again, I applied at another school that had spring classes starting and was put on their waiting list. After only a few months I got in. I had to move 150 miles away from home, quit my great PCA job, and start over again, but I was in school and have now graduated and moved back home. Took Nclex 3 times too. SO... for me "third time was a charm". Took me three tries to get into school, and three tries to pass nclex. Hopefully this won't happen to you, but keep your head high and maybe look into other schools that don't have those point systems. Worked for me. Good LUCK!!!
Are there any other schools you could transfer your credits too? Or maybe a private RN school? I know the school i am getting ready to attend had no waiting and since they are a private school i'm "paying for the privelege to attend" in a sence, even though i DID have to pass an entrance exam. They also took all of my pre-reqs from the first school i attended so i dont have much left to take besides the nursing.
Private schools are a bit more pricey but if you didnt want to wait...or couldnt wait...then maybe that's an option for you
Either way i wish you the best! keep your chin up! We are rooting for you!
No. I didn't get in. I have to reapply in October and hope for spring.
so basically you still may not be able to get in for spring like you said.
i'd do what i could do to raise your points and think about applying to other schools. dont limit yourself to one. either way, keep working towards classes you need for graduation. that way the semester will not be a loss b/c you'd have to take the classes anyway
I know I will get in for the spring. I just really wanted to get in now. I work in the ADN department as a work study student now and I think it makes it a little harder. I also would have had a scholarship to start nursing this fall.
It's the only nursing program near me.
I am going to finish up my general education. I will only had 3 classes and an orientation to take after this semester. Then I will only have 11 non-nursing classes left to take for my BSN.

I'm sorry...
Been there, done that! I think a lot of us have! It's a disappointment, but I thought the same way you did...just wasn't the right time. Hang in there - you'll get it and it WILL be the right time for you to start!
