I’m failing biology we’ve had our first 2 test even though I’ve been studying. Part of it is my fault and part of it isn’t. I just don’t know how to study for college biology and even though I’ve spent all day drawing out the shapes of the plant, bacteria and animal cells. Another thing is I shouldn’t have listened to my teacher when she told us not to study from the notes we were taking and study from hers instead.
I was still a failure. The part that wasn’t my fault is our school ran out of our biology textbooks so for the first 3 weeks no one was able to get our books to study and the teacher only gave 2 students the notes that she has made a copy of. When I asked she was making more she told me to wait until she gives out the notes. We didn’t get the notes until a week before the test . Then a week after we get another test and here I am. This has caused me to become depressed. I feel like even if I do study I’ll still fail. I’ve even started thinking of dropping the class but I’m thinking of trying one more time.
Do you guys think that there is hope for me I wanted to get an A grade in this class is it too late?
What can I do to turn my grades around?

When I took biology, I remember I used a ton of resources to study for biology. It looks like you aren’t able to connect the concepts. I feel like biology is part animation so I remember watching videos using the textbook website to understand the concepts. There are a lot of videos on YouTube from great content creators who can show you how a biology concept looks like in the video. Check out khan academy and Armando hasdungan on YouTube. Try to see how they approach the biology concept and maybe it will click with you

Not to rain down on you, but this is an excuse. There is more than 1 Biology textbook out there. You could've easily picked one of 1000's and at least read about the subject that was assigned that week. Sure, it may not be set up exactly as what your teacher will have in lecture, but the subject is the same. If you're talking about Meiosis and Mitosis, the subject matter does not change from one text to another. If this ever happens again, you may want to check the school's library because many times an instructor will have the book on reserve and available for use there.
Plenty of YouTube videos on everything Biology. If you're not a reader, this can help but reading still adds the extras that a video glosses over.
Also, if a book is not available at your school, there are various websites out there such as Chegg and Amazon that rent books to students. Very affordable. As long as the textbook isn't made privately for your class, it may be there. Just a FYI for you.
You really have to concentrate when it comes to any science class. Not sure if you're working or have kids or whatever, but it really takes time and dedication to do well in these classes.
Good luck!

Keep in mind it is also very possible to waste all of one's time resources browsing this and that.
You have the book now, read it and take notes/make flashcards and memorize the information. Same with lectured material. The idea of waiting for someone to pass out notes or give you the exact material you need to know is a helpless attitude that is not going to contribute much to your knowledge base in the end. Yes, it's worth making extra note of things your instructor might emphasize but beyond that you need to process the information yourself and know it.

If you cannot get an A, then get a B. If you cannot get a B, then leave the class. It is not worth the time to get less than a B.
I have had to retake classes to get higher grades because I decided to "push through it" and got a C. Sometimes you are not prepared enough and the teacher really is not going to help you (if you are too desperate and struggle alot). You might need a different teacher or take a summer class.
Soooo......
Look at your syllabus and determine how many exams/ grades are left in the course. Do not forget to look at the grades you have left for LECTURE and LAB. READ YOUR SYLLABUS- and take notes on it!! calculate what grades you need to get in order to pass with atleast a B.
Find out when your professor's office hours are. Go to these office hours with questions about homework and lecture.
Next , find out when the tutoring center on your campus is open and when they tutor your subject. Many times you can just go in there and tell them " I do not understand the Krebs cycle- please explain this to me" and someone there will tell you. They will not do your homework, but they will explain concepts.

I brought another book online but it didn’t come in until 2 weeks before the test. Also the lab book with the teacher’s notes is only sold at our school I couldn’t find anything similar to it. So I wrote notes in class to study from. The teacher was informed by the Deen to provide us with notes since the lab books weren’t available but she waited until the week before to give it to us. I watched YouTube videos to help make up for it. I’m not saying that weren’t things I could do differently but that part was out of my control I also checked the school library they didn’t have it . So I used another textbook from the tutoring center and also went for extra help. Maybe I’m just in over my head because even though I did all those things I still failed . By the way we need 2 books for this class one you can buy online which I did buy the first week of school the other that is only sold at our school is what we needed to study from because the test was not based on the first few chapters of the textbook but based on the lab book we had no access to since the school ordered the wrong books. So we were dependent on her notes . Most of the students failed only one kid who got the notes from her passed she only gave out one copy and that student was lucky to have it.
