Now I know this field may not be for all, but I know this field is for me! Also it may be different in all facilities, but my facility, is great! We have a wonderful team with all different levels of education, (ranging lpn~ DNP) but when we hit that unit, we are ALL nursing working as a smooth flowing team. The admin, DON, Nurse Manager, Charge Nurse are ALWAYS hands on, on the floor working side by side with their nurses, not just pushing papers shouting orders, everybody is given their equal amount of work, and although there is never a dull moment, when stress comes, it does not come between this team of nurses, thanks to excellent management!

I have a great boss but sometimes the other nurse I work with can get overbearing plus night shifters are lazy. Over all I love the facility & my job. Just not somewhere I want to stay after I get my RN.

Yea night shift is most definitely another ball game, if you like corrections once you get your RN the federal bop is always hiring RNs, thry also have alot of lpn/lvn positions for immigration customs enforcement in your area!

Lol they post them often, go on indeed.com and under "what" either type in immigration customs enforcement or type ingenesis, thats the company that hires medical staff for them and other government contracts

I love corrections, too. The night shift is anything but boring by the way. Its almost impossible to be lazy if your jail or what not is located in a heavy urbanized/suburban area.

The detention center I work at is out on a farm road in the middle of nowhere. :p

i know it is a big question, but what does a correctional nurse do? what is their day to day job. Right now there is a DON opening in our large county correctional facility, so I am curious.
