I just took the NCLEX - PN, my thoughts.

Nursing Students NCLEX

I feel like burning most the LVN review books I bought as they did me no good what-so-ever on the NCLEX. The questions I got came out of left field. Stuff that wasn't taught in school like post mordum care for jewish men and questions about the Buhdist faith. I couldn't believe the questions I got. It felt like I guessed at half the questions. What a terrible feeling I have now. I have went threw the ENTIRE Saunders LNV review book and cd TWICE, that's 6,000 questions, as well as the kaplan review book, "lvn made easy", and the mosby cd. Total review questions and rationales done exceeded 8,000. Yet it didn't help me at all. Yes I read the rationales for ALL the questions/ answers. The NCSBN.ORG review was the only thing that helped me as the questions were similar to the NCLEX.

The VAST majority of question were priority questions. I had learned all the tricks to answer these in the Kaplan book. Only one big problem....the priority questions in kaplan are a complete joke (very easy) compared to the actual NCLEX ones which were brutal.

My computer shut off at 85 and I am positive I got the 85th question wrong because I looked it up when I got home. I hear if the computer stops at 85 and you miss the last question ...you most likely failed if you weren't doing so hot. I wanted to throw up when I left the testing center.

So hear I sit and have to wait 3 weeks to get result in CA. I will start checking the LVN board website next week, but I have a bad feeling my name won't be up there and I will have to take the NCLEX again.

WOW! I received my results today and I PASSED!!:roll:mad: Im so HAPPY!!! THANKS to everyone!

Thanks everyone for all your support. This site has really helped me cope for the last 3wks and 2days of waiting. I really appreciate each and everyone.

Congrats nurse. Me too.

:o Hey, I know how you feel. I took my test Nov. 15th, and I still have to wait another week to find out if I passed. Every student in my program has received their results in exactly three weeks, so I'm hoping it isn't longer than that. My buddy from school took her test one week before me, and we had similar questions-both shut off at 85, and she thought for sure she had last question wrong, was sure she flunked. She called yesterday- she passed. I know that for a while I thought I was doing great, then became sure I was flunking when I could not answer many questions and had to guess. It is really hard to wait this long for results- I'm broke and need to get a job! 7 more days...:crying2:

Try to forget it for a couple of weeks- everyone thinks they failed, even those who passed!

Hello

I just took my nclex yesterday and freaking out I want to find out what I got my computer stopped at exactly 85 questions does that mean that I passed.

PLEASE I NEED HELP

I just received my results this morning, after waiting for a very LONG 3 weeks and 4 days, I finally get the letter and found out that I passed!!!!!!!!!!! :D I am so happy and relieved! What a stressful few weeks it has been!!!! Congrats to the others who have recently passed as well!:yeah:

and Good Luck to all of you who are still waiting, hang in there and have faith in yourselves!!!!:nurse:

p.s. to the poster above me...don't worry I also had 85 questions..I worried at first that I was given the minimum and thought I really blew it. The number of questions given to you does not indicate pass or fail, just have faith and don't beat yourself up over it. Try to distract yourself and get busy while waiting for your results or else each day will be in agony, contemplating the questions over and over in your head!!! Good luck to you!!!

Congrats nurse. Me too.

Can you beleive the long wait is over and we made it! YAY!!!

GONGRATS to you as well!!!!:yeah::yeah::yeah:

Specializes in Hopefully one day ICU.

hi all! i'm new to allnurses.com..i recently took my nclex last week (march 13) one week down, three more to go! I stopped at 85 questions, i hope i passed! All this waiting is making me crazy!

Dont worry. I am sure you guys did fine. I took my test Feb 26th. Mine shut off at 85 questions. Took me about 45 minutes including the tutorial. I walked out of pearson testing center saying that is one of the easiest tests I have ever taken(honestly). I got my results yesterday. I passed. :)

Hi all, i'm new here. Just wanted to say that i agree with the test being pretty easy. Took me about an hour to finish the entire thing. It stopped at 85. I really think the questions were plain and honest nursing questions. I live in california so it took me about 4 weeks for me to get my results, which is what killed me and also made me doubt myself, because i began to wonder why everyone would say the test was hard when i really didnt think so. Then i began to freak out because people kept telling me if the questions get progressively harder then it means you're answering them correctly but i really didnt see it that way so because of the long wait i became a tad discouraged. But anyway, got my results and i passed! Unfortunately now i have to wait 3-4 weeks to get the license itself. So that;ll be a nice long wait...i mean i've waited this long. :nurse:

Have faith in yourselves...pretty sure you all did very well!! :wshgrt:

I just took my test today and I also stopped at 85. When I left I felt like I was in a fog. Don't even ask me what the questions were because I can't even recall. I feel so sick that I have to wait 2 days to get my results. My friend just took hers last week and she stopped at 85 and passed. I pray I am not the person that stops at 85 and bombs it. I hate the waiting!!!!!

I took the NCLEX PN on March 14th and the questions cut off at around 96 questions. I am pretty nervous. Still haven't received my results and and am waiting at home. Ahhhh! How long is it taking in CA to get the results?:sofahider

I just took my NCLEX-PN yesterday, and I totally agree that no one ever knows what kind of questions you get! I studied two saunder books, and also did NCSBN questions, and ALL of my questions on the test were not at all similar to anything that I have been studying. I also had a lot of priority questions, but the choices all seemed to have an immediate priority! I studied a long time for the test, and I was truly confident that I would pass it. However, I now am beginning to doubt myself. I went to 205 questions, and I believe I answered all the questions to the best of my ability. Now I have to wait the dreaded 3-4 weeks for my results. Good luck to everyone, and lets all have faith!
