I just got accepted into LPN school!!

I got my acceptance letter for LPN school today! It was from Medgar Evers in NYC for the spring 2015 semester!

I was pretty sure I would get in since I'm almost done with my BA in psych and I started college as a nursing major and completed 1 clinical semester in an RN program in which I did really well, but having the acceptance in hand feels much different.

I only applied to 2 schools (Medgar Evers and Trocaire, in Buffalo), and couldn't really decide which was my top choice, so I'm about 98% sure I'll be going to Medgar Evers starting next month!!

My plan is to start with LPN, and later on, if I want, go for my RN, but this feels like the right step for now. Like I said, I did 1 semester in an RN program, and then I dropped out, not because I didn't like it (I loved it), but because of personal things going on in my life, and because of immaturity. People have been asking why I'm going the LPN route, and the short answer is because I can work sooner and there's always room for advancement.

Anyone else starting Medgar Evers this Jan?

I just got accepted into the Lpn program and I want to do that and then go for my rn is that a smart path to choose?

Many of my students have chosen to do the same thing. Most of them are either CNA's or PCT's. Becoming an LPN first will allow them to make more money while working fewer days while getting through RN school. There are many reasons, but I hear this the most.

I agree! I am a PCT working in an ICU. I just started an LPN program and I'll be finish in November. I'm using this opportunity 1st ( Although many people frowned upon LPN school) to make more money as I climb the nursing ladder to BSN.

No problem! And yes & no! Yes because it's smaller compared to the rest of cunys, no because at times it seemed to be disorganized like most schools, but the worse thing for me was the fact that a lot of students didn't care so it would be a lot of interruptions. But as long as you focus don't socialize you will do great!

Did you give your packet In yet?

Well My only advice is that you find some one (In the program) And make them your Study Buddy!! We Need all the help we can get

9 Out of 10 times All of us that got accepted for Jan 2015 will be in the same class anyway! Im ready for this crazy Journey we are about to challenge

I am picking up my mail today, and hopefully I'll have something from the college in it.

Yeah, I will definitely try and find a study buddy (you maybe?), though I feel like I am very well prepared because I did a semester in an RN program.

Thanks. I might move up the nursing ladder, and I might not. It's too early to say. But yes, part of why I chose LPN is because I can get to work more quickly and make money and there's always the option of advancing.

Same here! I may or may not continue but this will get me a career that I can enjoy and earn some money at either way. Do you have an area you are interested in?

I'm currently looking for lpn's schools. I wanted to try MEC LPN program, but they hardly put up information on their website. Can you tell tell me what are the prerequisites? Is the a pre entrance exam? Is there a waiting list? and the cut of gpa from when you applied?
