Hello All,
I just found out today that I failed the NCLEX for the 4th time. I feel like a complete failure. I have tried everything that I can think of for help and I can't seem to find the problem. How can I find out what I need to work on, every time that I take the test I look at my results and see what I should improve on and I study that material the most. but I keep failing. I have wanted to give up each time that I fail, but I feel like I went to school for too long to not at least have my license.A part of me wants to give up but then I know I will really feel like a failure. I have taken the Kaplan course twice , I took the Drexel Review course , I have went through the Saunders Comprehensive NCLEX review book, I have done the NCLEX made incredibly easy, I have had tutors. I am so upset and depressed everyone that I went to school with has passed. I have been out of school sine May of 2006. I thought that I needed a refresher course but I dont't know anymore. When I do review books and study I do average I don't do great but I just keep studying, Each time I take the test and get my results there is not just one subject I need to study it is just the near passing standard in every catergory. I need some help, advice, suggestions, Anything. I am thinking of getting hypnotized. I thought it was test anxiety, so I took something to make me relax, that didn't work either. I was also thinking of taking the LPN exam.
O I forgot to say that I took the NCLEX-RN exam

The NCLEX-PN wasn't all that easy either! You would have to study just the same for the PN exam. By reading how many times you took the NCLEX and what you've studied, having tutors, and went to a review course, I don't know what else to tell you, except to do more research on which NCLEX review course has the highest % pass rate. The reason I replied is because I got offended when you downplayed the NCLEX-PN as the last resort if you can't pass the NCLEX-RN. :angryfire But good luck on your studies and hopefully you'll pass the NCLEX-RN soon!

Sounds to me like you are doing just about everything you can. At this point, I would just use persistence. Schedule the test out one to three or even four months. Maybe get a new review book to use this time. Set up a study plan and then study as if you hadn't taken the exam before. Just remember the persistent people who pass after taking it eight or nine times. If they had quit trying earlier, they never would have made it. As long as you keep trying, there will come a time when you, too, will pass. Good luck.
Thank You for the advice. I was thinking of taking the NCLEX-PN hoping that it would be easier for me to pass, but I have no idea what that is like so that may not be the best thing for me. and then work as a PN for a while and then go back and take the RN exam again.I was not downplaying the PN exam, the crying smiley face was for me not passing the RN the exam had nothing to do with the PN exam. Sorry if you were offened but that was not my intentions to offend anyone about the PN exam.
Don't take the PN exam expecting it to be easier. All of my classmates in a BSN program who took the PN exam before the RN exam said that it was harder (perhaps because they were taking the NCLEX for the first time). Just stick with the RN exam. At some point if you want to switch over, well, maybe you will be luckier. But then you have to factor in that LPN work is harder to come by than RN work. You should focus your efforts on that which will give you a better chance in the job market. You can do this. Just keep trying.
Thank You. I think I will stick to the RN exam. I know that I will pass it eventually! I am going to keep trying I don't want to quit. I am just trying to find out why I am failing and how I can improve it. I think I may try some different types of studying as well as a review book. but something like flashcards, something audio to see if that helps me at all. But I really do appreciate your advice

Do not rush to resit the exam, prepare properly. Look at a new way to study and study as if you haven't sat the exam before. May be worth getting Saunder's and do the quizzes in the book as a quick review and see how you do. If you get more than 75% on the quizzes you should be ok. Then concentrate on doing questions and reading the rationales
Good luck and take your time
