I just found out my results

I failed the NCLEX RN for the 2nd time. I cried for about 1 hour straight. I don't understand what I am doing wrong. I passed the LPN NCLEX with the minimum questions the 1st time. I just don't even feel like taking it for a 3rd time and now the passing standard is going up in april. Great! Can anyone help me or know what I am going through????? Any advice is appreciated!

depressed LPN

I'm sooo sorry to hear that. I'm not a nurse (nursing student) and I have a couple of friends who had to take the NCLEX 3 times before passing. Are you using any type of study guides like Kaplan? Keep your head up. You will get through this.

I did the Kaplan course and it didn't help me one bit. I am going to buy saunders comprehensive book. Hopefully that will help. I just feel so stupid! Only 2 people in my class failed it and I am one of them. The other one retook it and passed. So I am the only one from my RN class that didn't pass. :bluecry1:

I know exactly how you are feeling.......I too was the last to take the RN NCLEX in my class and was one of two who failed the first time.....and I also failed the second time......I too cried for an hour straight my eyes were soo puffy, I will admit....I was depressed for a couple of weeks....Then I realized that I needed to get myself together...I too was an LPN first, and I took that exam with the min questions and passed first time.....I thought I would do just fine the first time....

Here is what I did....I went to my instructor from nursing school and asked for help...if anything I needed someone to help me figure out what I was doing wrong....and my thought process was not looking at the facts in front of me.

Second I made a plan with my instructor to see her once a week and do a Comprehensive test

Then...I went to a hypnotist to help with the negative talk I was doing to myself. I just felt like crap, and felt dumb....

Then I used the ATI, and I borrowed everyone elses books so I could do comprehensives from different books.

3rd time is a charm.....And don't worry abou the standards raising....focus on studying!

You will get through this..I did....and so will you. Good Luck!!

All i can say now is take a break relax, have some rest first... if you are ready to face again the nclex battle then go a head and think positive...dont lost hope try and try until you succeed,I failed at first time but im going to take it again if i dont pass again im gonna try it again and again..... You're not alone...Cheer up... Goodluck...:) :D

dont give up... you are not alone

The ATI (Assessment Technologies Institute) is a program to help study, I was fortunate that when I asked my nursing instructor for help, she was able to enroll me in the program with the other students in her nursing class. Otherwise I think it is about $400, but it's worth it. There practice test that are just like the NCLEX, one question at a time. You have 2 practice tests for each area, ie; Med-Surg, Community Health, Fundamentals, Leadeship, OB, Mental Health, Peds, Pharmacology, and a comprehensive at the end. It is nice because at the end of each test it shows you exactly what area you need help in. Which you can go back and study that area. Check it out at www.atitesting.com I believe they have a demo you can try. Best of Luck!

My heart goes out to you.

Put your head back on straight and find the perspective to attack the test again.

Have you tried Suzanne's plan? I hear it's awesome.

Hey girl I to failed the nclex for the second time. There was only one other person in my class that failed as well and passed on her second time. I am taking a break for awhile. I too am nervous about the nclex in April. I thought well if I couldn't pass it now, when they do that I'll never pass it. I emailed one of my professors and she is going to help me get a work/study program started, that is where I am at. I am not giving up, nor should you. One of the best nurses I know took the exam 4 times before she passed you wouldn't know it though. When your start your job no one is going to ask how many times you took your boards. I am going for round 3 as I call it, but when I am ready. I have the Saunders book and also watching drexel its DVD's, and meeting with my professor. Take your time though we will get through this.

Hey there! Its ok to cry your heart out... But also take a breather! My dearest aunt took the exam twice before finally passing the third time! She did self-study since she could not afford any reviews and had to work full time. She had 4 kids toO! She was devastated for the first two, even embarrassed that she didnt pass. And was honestly feeling its do or die the third time around. Everyone adviced her not to mind her multiple takes, and brush of the stigma of her previous fails. It doenst matter how many times you take it as long as you pass it.

Finally, she took an LOA, completely concentrating on studying (around a month). She did questions using Lipincott and Saunders and consulted text books when she hit a road block. She had expressed desire to take the Feuer review (by word of mouth, it supposedly helps multiple takers esp those who didnt find Kaplan as helpful). but again, there was the cost. She passed the third last Oct. 2005 with only 75 questions, moved to San Francisco, and is now supervisor in one of the pm shifts in her facility! Needless to say, she is an excellent excellent NURSE!

Dont give up... and dont be disheartened you failed... my aunt sat through 2 failures while most of her classmates began working already! Her third time was a charm, Hopefully it will be yours toooo!

I hope the best for you! :)

Thanks for all of the kind words. I will start studying and using suzanne's plan soon when I get my saunders book in the mail. Any studying/test taking tips will be appreciated! Thanks for the support! It's nice to know that I am not alone!
